ZL1 Automatic
Will the ZL1 auto be short changed on HP like the SS versus stick?

Autos will be shortchanged to the wheels anyway you slice it, but as far as at the flywheel it will be the same engine...

vettes already get great MPGs , so they don't need DOD or AFM.

The Calloway's are using the L99 as the basis of their mods, just like the SLP's. Look at the CTS-V's, same HP/TQ auto and manual, no afm version of the LSA to date, and I don't expect their will be one to be honest.

I tend to agree, there's no way the ZL1 will make EPA no's in fuel mileage in automatic form, so there's no need for AFM. You will just pay the penalty.

The Vette is no different... you will always lose more rwhp through the auto trans.

There seems to be two different conversations going on - and I just wanted to point them out for everyone...
Shockandawe seems to be referring to flywheel (engine) hp, and others are referring to rear-wheel horsepower... |

L99 - 400 hp
LS3 - 426 hp Auto loses about 20% through the drivetrain Manual loses about 15% through the drivetrain. Numbers are approximate.... Corvette uses LS3 regardless of tranny so yes, the A6 Corvette may dyno less then the M6 for wheel HP. A6 ~ 340 rwhp M6 ~ 365 rwhp Camaro A6 dynos much less than M6 Camaro. A6 ~ 320 rwhp M6 ~ 365 rwhp Two conversations are now one. Now, even though the HP is the same on the M6 Camaro and Corvette... there ar LOTS of other factors as to why the Corvette will and should smoke the Camaro. |
