Supercharge with 3.91 Gears?

I have heard some folks leave stock gears in their 2010/2011 SS manual once they super charge the car. I cant afforcd the SC now but I do want to swap to the 3.91 gears. Will the 3.91 gears be a problem once I do add the SC? Will the car have too much pull in gear 1 and 2??

Thanks In Advance!

I have 3.90 gears in mine and I do spin the tires pretty good but it is a blast to drive and still nice when just rolling around town.

Part of it depends on what type of S/C you get. With a PD blower, you'll spin for a while before gripping. With a centri, you'll launch like stock unless you are at a higher RPM level. It's one of those things that you'll learn to adapt to. Personally I think that 3.70 or 3.73 is optimal. Good launch with a blower, and lower RPM while cruising.

A good tire is always a plus with this combo, along with some suspension mods. Combo does require a little finesse at times, but I still wouldn't change back or drop down..

I understand that part too. Having an M6, I can start slowly in 1st, shift to second, and once boost builds up enough, it has that same effect. Granted, we have two different systems, but when I have that 24 lbs. kick in fully, my front end just starts lifting. It's scary, yet exhilarating at the same time. A good tire does play a big role however.

I look at the 3.91 as a force multiplyer. I'm running modest boost, the gears make the car feel like I'm at 700 RWHP with that awesome torq. CMP also tuned the tranny up to work well, nice even smooth shifts.

Its the cam choice, not the blower choice, Jesus! Bigger gears will make car feel lighter and from dead stop starts talk about easy! It really makes the heavy 5th gen so much easier to drive modded or not..

I'm glad I didn't listen all the peeps say don't do it!

And its only 700 upgrade if change it your self.
