No, not exactly -- because there's still a muffler. It's like SLPs Loudmouth II system. Or Tom Henry's exhaust systems...when open, it's a straight-through exhaust...very little muffling, very little restriction.

When it's closed, the air and vibrations is diverted through a more traditional muffler setup, which tames the sound.

I absolutely hate cut outs and "diverters" but I LOVE the bi mode exhaust on the corvette and now the ZL1

I don't know, sliced bread is pretty bad ass.

This has been available on the Vettes for some years now and it is really pretty cool especially if you get a controler

I know... that's why I said SINCE sliced bread.... meaning everything that has happened AFTER sliced bread fails in comparison to the badass-ness of bi-mode exhausts...... sliced bread is the equivilant and/or has a greater amount of badass-ness than bi mode exhausts....

most free flowing aftermarket systems should still be louder at WOT than the bimodal would be able to produce (stock the car has to meet db restrictions at WOT too). It's basically so that it could be quiet when idling and at low load. Think of VTEC, but for mufflers.

Funny you should make that comparison. A friend of mine mentioned the VTEC on his Honda Si when describing the way his Dual Mode on his Grand Sport Corvette engages.

I gave him a lot of crap for that of course!

Are the controllers used to gain performance or are they mostly for the sound?
