2012 SS vs 2011 Mustang GT
Going to PBIR tonight for a little sibling rivalry/grudge match.
Mine: 2012 L99 with intake, tune, axelback His: 2011 GT, manual, with intake, tune, axelback He's always had a faster car - my lightnings put up a decent fight but were always slower and I never modified them. What do you guys think? My take: if he has anything resembling traction problems, I should be able to hang with or beat him, but if he hooks, it should be close! Not only is my car heavier, but I'm considerably heavier than he is - maybe I'll sneak my wife into the driver's seat, I've got her by 200 lbs. |

Fairly common knowledge around here but it'll be close. I'd give the advantage to your brother because of the weight.
My local track most stock Mustangs average around a 13 flat and Camaros around a low to a mid 13. Not sure if its because of weight or rear suspension or gearing. Average a 2500 DA here during the summer. Driver skill is going to play a larger part than weight or rear suspension between you two in my opinion.

Unless he's a complete meat sack, he should win, comfortably.

If he can drive the Mustang will win.

OP needs more mods to beat the car if the Mustang driver is good. With no driver error and the right conditions thats a high 12 second car vs a mid 12 second car. 1/2 second difference in drag racing isnt even close in my book.

Thank you LC.
Update - the track wasn't terribly busy, lots of quick cars...and mine wasn't one of them. My christmas list just got a whole lot bigger and more expensive. Best of 4 runs (although I could have gone at least 8 times) was 13.2 at 106. 60's were pretty ugly. Car felt fast, but the slips said otherwise. Mustang ran a best of 13.1 at 113, traction problems all night, especially the left lane. It was a ton of fun, but I can't hide my disappointment. |

What pressure were you running in the tires? I almost made it out there last night with a bunch of friends but they all backed out last minute.

Was your brother pedalling the first 8th mile? That sixty foot plus that ET would typically mean about a 108/109mph trap in a manual car. Not to mention he's picking up 26mph on the big end. Looks like the first half of the track was really slick, or maybe he was shifting *really* slowly.

He was babying it - the second to last run he spun 1st thru 2nd and sloppied into 3rd and rolled it down the track. The last run, he launched light, hit second quickly but didn't stab it then reeled me in (and fast) at the end.
