If they do decide to revive the Supra name, I wonder which way they'll go with it? If they'll make it an expensive sports car, or an upgrade based on the Celica? I think they tried selling an expensive Supra once and it didn't work out too well (as far as sales go).

Is this "new Supra" going on sale? I looked at the Toyota website and it says the FT-1 is a concept and doesn't mention a thing about when it may go on sale. It states clearly, however, its name is "FT-1" and not Supra.
Yeah, it's a gorgeous car, but I'd expect a 60k starting price, even with a 4cyl. turbo engine. 50k is pretty much inevitable. Would that be low enough to steer away from Camaro? Yes, if you're a big Toyota fan or just don't like the Camaro. Otherwise, I don't see many making a switch "just because." The interior, in typical (high end) Toyota form, looks fantastic. I instantly thought of the last Supra when I saw it light up, recalling how "futuristic" that car looked in the 1990's(and earlier, really). The 300ZX rivaled it back then, but our American cars were far simpler and seemingly cheap. On that note, looking back, particularly at the 300, those interiors really aren't so good. They fall apart as any American brand over time. Ultimately, I see few even cross-shopping these cars. They're simply far too different, like front engine vs mid/rear, fixed wing vs motorized, etc. In the 60k range, this car will sell well, but, it's just not meant as a competitor in the pony car class and at the clear price difference, I don't see many real comparisons. If you want one, you probably don't want anything quite as traditional as Camaro. |

It's sick. A supercharged version of the Tundra engine is what they should put in it

Charging supercar price for a Toyota doesn't not make it a supercar

You can put lip stick on a pig, but it's still a pig. Toyota can build a Supercar, but it's still a Toyota. Nope not for me...

this thread is worthless. I see both sides arguing over a car that wont be on the same level as camaro. "V8" guys and their "true" muscle cars..... back then the V8's made less horse power than the V6 motors that we have today.... we all like cars now back to camaro talk. move along.....

I'd rather get the NSX if the price point is similar.

IMO, the concept supra is ugly. The old Supra, the one in the FAF clip, will always be the best supra. Nothing Toyota will ever make, will be able to top that generation. Its a cult icon to this day.

I bet it will be GTR money aka $100k plus, so your camaro will cover the sales tax eh?
For that money I would get a Z28 for weekends and a stingray for a daily driver beater |

Even so, there's simply no chance that Toyota will be in GT-R territory in any manner, including pricing. That said, I did a quick look-back and this car appears to be a front engine, rear drive. I initially thought it was mid/rear engined. That makes it a tad more like Camaro, but it still looks like a 4cyl. I can't tell though, thanks to cute engine covers. Plus, Toyota won't say just yet. Well, I watched a video that said they won't, but that may be old now. They did say the goal was to make it look like the old straight 6. If it gets a straight 6, that would truly be stunning and I'm sure we'd all like it. The guy also said this car does have direct lineage to Supra and a couple others, so it may be a big dog. I don't think it will be a 100k + car though, unless they also add AWD and it makes 600hp. |

So go post about it on a Toyota site , the majority here doesn't give a rats ass about a Supra.

Supra is the only toyota car I would ever consider. I've always liked them. Hopefully they execute well. I'm thinking it will be a GTR competitor and not a Camaro competitor though. It will also be in the GTR class price wise I bet.
