missing out at wot=stumped
hey guys I could sure use a hand here, I think i might have a fuel pressure issue but not sure. car was on the dyne last saturday after cam and bolt ons and ran fine. I drove it for a day or two (no wot)and its fine this morning my little boys says go fast daddy, alright here we go but not so fast like. seems to run fine except for wot. after i dropped him off i made a couple hard pulls and it does it pretty bad. not down low in say 3rd gear but if you hammer it 1st it does it, hammer it in 2 from about 3k does it. changed plugs and wires for giggles. checked and cleaned maf. sprayed starting fluid over anywhere air could leak. got out the sct x4 and its showing about 19psi. seems awful low to me but does the sct read it at the pump or up at the rail or does it matter. driving me nuts cause i just bought this thing, done the work and now this. had it about three months and have driven it about 200 miles. no codes by the way.

just took it out right now again and it seems like it runs fine before everything gets heatsoked. ran fine several pulls for 8-10 minutes then runs like crap again. kinda feels and sounds like an old rev limiter that drops cylinders.

Man, I’m no paid shill for anyone but I’ve been hanging around here long enough to know that if Ted Jannety, Ryan at GPI, or Dyno Steve didn’t do your tune on your Camaro, post mods, yer Fooked. My nightly prayers include, ‘please Lord, let these guys still be around when I finally mod MY Camaro!

While ryan is a good tuner and I'm running GPI cam, those are by far not the only three. They are really just the three talked most about on C5.

Fuel pressure? AFM gauge reading? Injectors? I had this happen on occasion and i was running out of fuel. It was not frequent, but happened at WOT after I had been running for a while. After I upgraded injectors, pump and fuel rail the problem disappeared.

Was the 19lbs at idle? That is very low. I'm running around 60lbs, give or take, at the rail. Under load, it dips a little, a pound or two. Sounds like you do have a fuel delivery issue.

The pressure sensor is forward of the fuel tank in the feed line.
The pressure, key on engine off command pump on with scan tool should be 50-60 psi. Last edited by Gasoholic; 05-17-2018 at 11:02 AM. |

i am in new braunfels, 25 miles east of san antonio. the 19lb is coming from the handheld but it is pretty consistent 19 everywhere which kinda leads me to believe that’s just what the sct is reading. i was leaning toward changing the pump today but since it shows 19 when cold and runs fine then shows 19 when heat soaked runs like crap i don’t know if the sct is misreading it or what the heck the deal is. i’m going to try to find a gauge to put on the rail. i’m not really getting how it can runs so bad and not throw a code also.
