Can't wait to see what a Highway Patrol interceptor looks like. Those a gorgeous cars even though they pull you over. They have that auto tranny that can catch anything.

That's GM automatic transmissions for you. 22 less hp and still faster.

This is the automatic with paddle shifting, and look, you cant see the paddles. Doesnt that mean that they're not like the wierd chevy paddles? This is the best proof ive got.

And it's a similar wheel design...(not that that means much). But it looks more like the Camaro's than the Corvette/Malibu's wheel does...

hmm....I may end up liking these paddles more than I originally thought if this pans out.

Thanks for that. I wasn't doubting you...but I just never knew that they had another form of paddles besides the Corvette.

Just might have to give the paddles a try. The Muscle car is being redefined. I mean, you want OnStar, iPod, all that other stuff. Paddle shifters are in right now. It used to be called F1 style shifting. Works for me on my Jetta.

I enjoy kicking my left foot out to shift - just *feels* sportier, even if it isn't. Definately getting the manual here. But, thats not for everyone. There was a certain fun factor to my buick when all I had to do was mash down my right foot to tap the 190 horses. Paddles would probably be even better.

4140(challenger with auto)-3913(camaro with auto)=227

pretty much 200 was a good rounded number.

you have to compare auto to auto since the challengers manual isnt out yet(When they announce the challenger manuals weight, then you can compare but it'll be about the same difference 200lbs).

but there you go those are the numbers.

Not if you live in... oh, lets say Lake Forest, CA and you drive in horrific traffic on Rt 405 every day. Next year I'll keep my eyes open from the manual Camaro in rush hour traffic. If you see someone honking their horn and giggling... that's me.

The advantages of a manual transmission are less than they used to be. You get the more connected feeling and you have better control of the rpm. The performance advantages in terms of MPGs and 0-60s have evaporated. Besides, it's hard to top the sex appeal of paddle shifters.

I'm in Miami and yes traffic can be very bad at times. My wife can't drive manual.. But on the other hand, manual is so much fun to drive and you can do much more with it. My left foot will feel like it needs to do something and my right hand will rest on the auto stick doing nothing.. I can't get used to paddles since I don't drive with the right hand on the wheel... So at this point, I don't care if the auto is .3 seconds faster, I'll stick with the Ls3

I'm just hoping the base V8 is about the same price as a fully loaded V6 RS..

Come on people, this argument of Manual vs Automatic is sooo lame... I mean now with the advent of traction control and other improvements there is very little difference in driving all out in either one. I like them both but for different reasons. I like a manual when I can just get out and drive with not many stops and starts, Around curves and such, but when you get into traffic and have to stop and go all the time it gets to be a bother really fast.
On the other hand I have learned you can drive an automatic much easier and many times faster both on the open road and in city traffic. You just have to think a little more with the Automatic, anticipate where you need to shift a little earlier. Once you get that down you can have alot of fun with the Automatic. Modern automatics will even engine brake for you in situations like going down a steep grade, the transmissions in both my HHR and Sky will downshift to a lower gear automatically. It is amazing what these new transmissions can do.
Some people will live in the dark ages forever and drive a Stick. While others will embrace new technology and use the Automatic.
