I had a TrueTrac in my GTO for almost four years. It was quite and performed flawlessly. I used synthetic lube in it from day one. They are a gear type unit so should be silent unless there is a problem with the installation.

Tony at JRE installed my TrueTrac last week and I have put about 1000 miles on it so
far. Its perfect.......quiet, launches right , I couldn't be happier. We did the 3.70 LPE gears and Ted's billet caps too. Working flawlessly. we did the DSS 1000hp axles and aluminum drive shaft at the same time vibration free up to 160mph on Ted's dyno. Nice, nice combo......... |

Had Livernois install the Eaton True Trac as well as the 3.70 LPE Gears. About 2K miles and no problems, no noise, no performance issues. Livernois likes to do their work right!

I have one ready to drop in, if it does everything they say it does, the 9" kits are hugely over priced. Grab a set of JRE's billet main caps if you do the diff, with that you are supposedly good to 800 wheel.

Do the math though....on what you'll pay to rebuild your diff w/ gears, posi unit and jre upgrades, add in a driveshaft and axles...also figure in the $$ you can get for your used parts if you bought a 9" or 12 bolt....the $$ isnt that far apart.

Just ordered my Truetrac from DTS:
http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com...duct-6614.html I'm just a little excited!!! They suggested.....no friction modifier.....and only use conventional (non-synthetic) gear oil to keep it quiet. Any other opinions on this synthetic vs. non-synthetic subject???? |

I've got 2100 in my rear end, and a 9" is like 5k, and will be used. I think it's a much better idea, and Jannety told me it would hold 800 wheel. Not to mention, there is much less parasitic loss as compared to the 9".

And, on the other hand, I can understand this philosophy too! For those folks who are going to be running high HP cars with drag radials and putting your car to the true test every weekend at the track, yes, I can see the need for a 9" conversion kit. But that's not everyone's situation. I plan to stay N/A (probably?!?!?!), and I am not at the drag strip every weekend. My car is primarily a weekend "fun" car, and I am not a serious racer. So for me, and a few others, spending $5,000 - $6,000 on a 9" conversion just doesn't make good sense....at least not right now. Now if my plans change, and I want to supercharge my car and get more serious about drag racing, then yes, I will give the 9" some serious consideration. It's all depends on how you are going to use your car. If I had a ton of money to just throw around for the heck of it, yes, I'd probably have a 9" on there already...just for fun!!! But reality doesn't work that way (and neither does my wallet), and I'm okay with that....at least for right now. |

If you get anywhere near your goals the stock rear wont last if you USE your power, you can go to church and back but not put that much power to the ground, the factory case will not hold up....I also can say the 9 inch doesnt use much power over the stock rear. The 9 inch is a bit of coin but it will save you money in the long run if you keep the car and your over 600 hp.A sixspeed with over 500 will take the rear out the auto will help it till about 600
