Well seeing it lists things that didn't exist on the 2010 Camaro I wouldn't put much stock in that picture. Examples: HUD, Rear Quarter Regulators for the coupe and convertible, rear tulip panel for the convertible....

Good proportion of american cars do not reach the 75 % US content criterion to be considered american. So some zl1s at 71 % percent are not american. I think the chevrolet aveo is < 5% and the new Volt is in the 40s %
how much foreign content is there in a M3 BMW ?? So even if we try to consume american products we end up stimulating foreign economies outside North America. anyways its somehow reciprical. toyota camrys have a high US content. i guess its the government doing some give and take. |

from what i am reading the New Z-28 that they are going to build will be like the vette and enjoy america made.It is not that my ZL doesnot run well,it is a amazing car.I just find it hard for me to say america made means the engine was bulid in mexcio and the car was built in canada.but my infini and lexus was built in the u.s.a.what a strange world.lol While there are many factors in this.i do wish my ZL1 was built in the u.s.a.

I bought the Camaro ZL1 in Canada, made in Canada, because I'm Canadian.
My other car is a Monte Carlo SS, also made in Canada. I know some people who work for GM in Oshawa, and they're not to happy about loosing their jobs because the next gen Camaro is being moved to the US. I married and American girl, if that counts..... |

Maybe a plant worker can confirm it; but as far as I know the LSA is not assembled in Canada. The block is machined in the Canadian plant then shipped to the assembly plant in Mexico for final engine assembly.
As for the Made in USA designation; the country of origin for the parts and percentage of those parts determine that; not the country of assembly. Two opposite examples of this are the Camaro (Made in the USA) and some Honda cars (labeled made in Japan) which have the majority of the parts still made in Japan; but final assembly is in their Mississippi plant. |
