Its more than an overlay, its functional like the real ZL1 hood. It bolts on and has an adhesive that is used to make it stronger and vibration free. Same adhesive used for bonding in windshields.

I believe you actually cut a big chunk of your hood out. So its much more than an overlay

Yes you need to cut a hole where the hood vents are located and drill 6 holes for the studs. It also come with the water diverter.

Did you instal this yourself? Was a template provided for the drilling/cutting ?

Seems like it'd be a pretty straight forward instal other than getting it positioned right. Which would be a non issue with the template .

Sounds like a good bit of fabrication. If it were me, I'd probably just put that work into the real article.

Cool though.

Yes it comes with a template. No fabrication necessary. Some tape. A couple wrenches, a jigsaw, a drill and a couple drill bits. It took me about 3 1/2 hours to install mine.

You can buy some pretty strong dremmels and bits.

I guess mine is just a cheap one then. But a cheap $20 jigsaw with a pair of metal bits for $2 will cut fast and easy...
