I just realized this...

I don't think that the Camaro is going to have 400+ horsepower. If you think about it, once it gets to that range, suddenly it can compete with the Corvette. Do think this will be a problem?

No.Because corvette base model has 430 hp, and zr1 has 620+ HP. Cadillac CTS -V has around 550 hp, XLR-V has 440 HP, pontiac G8 gxp has 400 hp. So i think camaro will have over 400 hp. Maybe later some version with over 500 hp.And i think corvette will be much lighter than camaro. Now if we are talking about future models (corvette according to rumors should get engine with less power, but also there is rumors about DOHC v8 just for corvette, and mid engine corvette so there isn't any firm information) we can't tell until C7 comes.

430 hp and being lighter should give the Vette considerable advantage over the Camaro. Plus don't forget the 400 hp benchmark comment came from GM not some random guy on the internet.

The Camaro has always followed the base Corvette. Much of the time, it follows very closely.

Also remember that both have different purposes in the Chevy lineup. The Corvette is a flagship car with flashy exterior styling and a very basic, unimpressive interior. The Camaro is a pony car meant to compete with 4-seater coupes and larger sedans featuring a lot of power but also function for the average Joe. The Corvette is a weekend driver. The Camaro is a powerful means of doing what most people have to do—transport the family, get to work, cost as much as an economy. They both appeal to different market segments, so there is only a small overlap in the power department.

Then what do you think is a safe guess? 420?

Rumor has it: Z06 will be taking a 2-3 year hiatus. ZR1 will be produced for the next 2 years or so while Camaro takes center stage.

First off, LS2 Corvette is about 39k and has 400 hp. Z06 has 500 hp and starts at 60k I think? Camaro comes out with 400 hp LS2 type engine and will be in the 30k neighboorhood and a 500hp SC engine in the 40K range (hope not that high).

So you are telling me you would much rather have a Corvette with 2 fiewer seets and 10k more?

I'll take my 400+ hp Camaro with 2 more seats for even 35k over a Vette with 2 seats and 400hp at 40k.

Not to sound like a jerk, but it's been stated the LS2 will not be in Camaro. I'm sure this was just a typing error.
