Shifter Options; Who Changed thier's out?

I was thinking about going with the Hurst billet/plus and the handle.

Anyone changed thier's out for the Hurst? Pics? Benifits?

Thanks.

Possibly better durability and less likelihood of missing a gear (most likely 3rd) at drag racing or similar use.

The flip side is that aftermarket shifters can be more "notchy", some worse than others.

you are correct on 3rd gear...even normal driving sometimes does not want to engauge properly.

The Hurst Billet/Plus p/n 3916030 looks slick and has a very short throw.

Check out the links below re: Hurst short throw shifter and installation:

The aftermarket Hurst has a 44% reduction in throw, I believe that the ZL1 uses the OEM Hurst short-throw, which is a 22% reduction in throw.

I have the Hurst shifter 3916030. I have not installed it yet as I am waiting for the upgraded/modified bushings. I am expecting them in the mail soon.

I put an MGW in my dad's 03 z06. It installed without any problems. The instructions were very thorough. It shifts smooth with a really short throw. It was a big improvement over the stock shifter in the Z06. I don't know how much shorter the throw would be on the ZL1 but it seems worth checking into.

I didn't like the 'feel' of the factory shifter as I will be taking mine to the strip next year so had an MTI installed....the MTI has a much better feel than the factory's....

Had I not wanted to powershift I would have left the stock one in....

They are not the same shifter, but may have a same/similar throw. The ZL1 shifter and the OEM Hurst shifter are constructed differently, as long as they haven't gone cheap and started constructing the OEM Hurst the same way as the other factory shifters and just charging more for the name. I also wonder if the 2013 SS shifter is the same as the ZL1 shifter, but haven't seen one in person yet, only the ZL1 shifter.

If I was going to go with an aftermarket shifter I would go with an MGW from the reviews I have read.
