The new ZL1 is the only 6th.gen that looks attractive on picture, I hate the hood vinyl on the 1LE and comparing the looks of a 6th. gen SS to my '14 ZL1 no way I would replace it.
The rear exterior look of the 6th. gen. looks very ordinary & uninteresting. It's no longer a 2+2 car since the rear seat is useless, nobody would fit there. 6th. gen looks very oriental compared to the 5th gen ZL1 that has that everlasting strong muscle car look. Our 5th. have a very strong undestructible powertrain but it feels pork heavy. I don't have any doubt that the 6th gen would be lighter and more advanced technology and performance wise, but don't see one of them in my garage, if one day I replace my ZL1, would be for the great Z51 Stingray N.A. with stock seats, and no magnetic shocks if possible standard transmission or maybe the upcoming 10 autom. transmission depending if it has better reliability compared to their A8.

My 2 cents, this is a badass car!!!! However, it has lost the "muscle car" appeal....it's more of a "sports car"....the 5Gen kept the "muscle car" heritage...that's what I love about the styling of my 2012 ZL1.

The 5th gen will always be remembered for its revolutionary revival of Camaro enthusiasm with its dramatic new look with ties to Gen1. For me the design of the 6th gen is cool looking but only because it resembles the 5th Gen. and if I'm looking for a performance upgrade I think I would go for the C7 vette. My 5th Gen ZL1 will reside in my garage for years to come!

I'm hopeful it has a bigger blower as well, but if it does wouldn't it be named something other than a LT4?

Possibly, but I heard rumors of an upcoming blower change to the LT4, but it's clearly speculation at this point. The big issue is it would require it to be recertified which would take time and cost $$$. GM is big on the engine SAE certification. I do think they will rate the HP above 650 hp in this car. They already referenced intake and exhaust changes which we know can amount to some nice hp gains. They won't need to recertify the motor if that's the case. Once again, just me speculating.

Ok just saw the pictures of the new ZL1. I like the tail lights, and the head lights are not to bad, and the interior is very nice. But the overall exterior look is just not for me, especially that front grill. The wieght loss and size reduction is a plus and the overall performance sounds great. But the 5th gen ZL1 my eyes is already a classic and a keeper in my book. For all those buying the 2017 enjoy, i'm sure it will be one heck of a car.

I wouldn't hold my breath on this. Let's face it, the Camaro is and always has been the bastard step child of the Chevy performance division. It will always be de-tuned enough to keep hp just below that of the identical powertrain in the Corvette.

Also...I've noticed since 2012 during these media events...Chevrolet is positioning Corvette and Camaro as equal partners in dominating the performance market. During the ZL1 reveal, for example, they highlighted the fact that from T4 Camaro up to Z06 Corvette, they've got a performance car for just about every performance buyer. It's pretty neat to see the admiration for Camaro from these guys. |

There wasn't an identical corvette power train for our ZL1s, but when they initially said at least 556 based on the CTSV, we got 580. So I wouldn't be surprised to see 650+ this time.

If you compare the Corvette and Camaro pages on Chevy's website, the Corvette is advertised at 460 hp and the Camaro at 455. So why not list them both at 460 hp or 455 for that matter? Does the LT1 really lose 5 hp or the LT4 10 hp putting them in a Camaro body? Maybe they do because of the difference in intakes. I don't know. What I do think is a better explanation for the difference is that Chevy markets the Corvette as the "top dog" of the line up and comparable models of the Camaro will never equal or exceed the hp of the top dog.
