Toyota: Will it ever end?

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/01...es-1956580065/

I've lost count, so for those of you that haven't, what is the car/issue count up to?

i guess that is what happens when vehicles are mass produced.

in my opinion i think there are more toyota's and honda's produced then any other company. but i think toyota is slightly a head of honda now. so it would make sense that things get over looked but that is not an excuse. maybe they should have a better quality control check.

to add to that cause i know i will get flamed. but... even though they have these recalls. people are still buying them.

From Automotive News...

Today's actions bring the total number of Toyota recalls since fall of 2009 to 18 million vehicles.
This is only the beginning...who knows what else Toyota half-assed on their quest to become the world's largest automaker?

The last of the decent Toyotas must have been 1994 or so. After that even their SR5 pick-ups went to crap.

The USDM supra stopped being sold in 1998. That was the last toyota worth owning imo.

There's no opinion about the matter, toyota is behind Volkswagon in the world market as a producer of cars, They are behind General Motors in the US market, and Honda is even further down the list.

They don't sell as many cars as their marketing would like you to believe.

The irony of all of this is that toyota supposedly pioneered the quality-control methods and systems in use by most, if not all, auto manufacturers today...

I dunno, Fen. I think The 1.7 recall for floormats was the beginning. I think we're well into the meat of it, now. How many MORE recalls they issue? Heh...I won't be surprised if they have to recall for the next two years straight....serves them right.

Toyotas recalls should calm down in a couple of years, when they start introducing the cars that they're busy working on right now. But even then, all the cars from the past 5-10 years (as well as the 2011, 2012, and 2013 MY's) will continue to have issues crop up.

Umm ... no

For 2010, worldwide, Toyota sold ~30,000 more vehicles than GM (out of 8.4M). Since 2008, Toyota has only built around 1M more, on a total of around 25M. Honda, I'm not even sure where they rank. They're not big enough globally to make the major press releases. For 2010, Toyota was #1 followed by GM and VW. Ford and Hyundai/Kia are in 4th and 5th (though its not clear who sold more just yet). So at best, Honda is the 6th biggest automaker in the world but there are a number of other automakers that could also hold that title as well.

They were never ahead. They were behind Toyota by about 1.5M in 2009 and about 1.3M for 2010
