Here's a good one.....when the ZL1 was first announced , I went in to my dealership 4 days later and plunked money down for one and someone had already beaten me out for #1......last week I emailed them the info I found here with regards to pertinent ordering dates , etc......they themselves had not received this info yet , so they sent it to the area rep, wondering as to how a customer knows more than them.......all I received was "we will know sometime in nov. how many cars we'll get".......but since I am a mechanic in the camaro bodyshop in Oshawa, I will let all you bums know the first time I see any zL1 hardware.......c

LoL... Don't be silly. The 2012 Camaro ZL1 is going to be in big demand, GM knows this and will gladly charge a much higher Premium over what Ford starts the GT500 at... It seems the '12 ZL1 has much more Performance Technology over the GT500 and the MSRP will reflect it, no doubt.. I believe the 2012 Camaro ZL1 at the least will start at $52,795, more likely, I think it will be $55,xxx and some change..And honestly, depending on price/MSRP, I'd like to see how many 2012 Camaro ZL1s will actually be sold.. I rarely see a Mustang GT500, i guess due to cost/price..


Big demand, I'm sure, but let's see how many folks actually fork over the cash/monthly payments to own this beast...

Yea the dealer told me to stay online as there is more info online than they had.. Needless to say, let us know when you get yours.
I have a strong feeling that everyone like yourself that wants one, WILL get one.
They may have to wait, but they will get one.

That's the key, I think...it's just not physically possible to build 5000 ZL1s in the first month...they'd have to all but stop other Camaro production...

And I bet if we took a show of hands on who actually plan on buying one on here it would be WAY below 5000 people.
Id say less than 100 true out and out ZL1 buyers on C5.

Some buyers will have a lot of money to spend and figure they want a fast car. They'll probably garage it for 90% of its life, which is a shame...

The most will be enthusiasts that don't even know it exists, yet. We're a big site, but still only a small corner of the world here.

And there'll be a few...who've drooled and slobbered all over the computer for the past year (in my case...six years) chomping at the bit for the opportunity to buy one. And THESE are the most vocal buyers....the one's who can make themselves sound much more numerous than they are...us.

I'm in bucket 3....but I can't say for certain at this stage that I will definitely buy a ZL1....it all depends on the price point for me...

I guess most people are in the same boat right now, apart from those with too much money anyway

I assume that Chevrolet has done its marketing homework with regard to how many ZL1s can be expected to be sold annually (I'm guessing that the number would be in that 5000-7000 unit range). However, here on C5 there are probably about 25 rabid ZL1 devotees, who account for 75 plus percent of the posts in the ZL1 section, which can give one a skewed view of the true overall demand for the ZL1. I'm confident that given a little patience and diligence, we'll all be able to acquire the ZL1 that we want.
