If Ford can develop the largest production FPC V8 and put it in a $50k Mustang, I would hope GM could develop a higher output n/a V8 and put it in a Camaro for a similar amount of money. If not, maybe they should hire some Ford engineers.

It's too bad that engine barely develops as much torque as the old LS3, that it's hp doesn't happen until well past 7000 rpm, or that they weren't bright enough to realize such an engine/car would require standard coolers to function, properly.

The grass is always greener on the other side...The only reason that engine both meets emissions, and develops as much hp as it does, is because they rev it to the moon...and you just can't take the same approach on a pushrod engine.

For that...we may have to wait and see what this new "LT5" can do.

If GM has a thought or inkling on how to make a dime from the Z/28 name they will do it.

Problem is..................all those people that are now lining up to by ZL1 1LEs will be screaming about the fact GM screwed them out of residual value and caused depreciation.

BOOOOOM!!!!!

I'm talking about the engineering behind the motor. Whether or not you are a fan, you have to respect the work put into it.

I respect that it spins and produces power where it's good to have it at the track.

I also respect that like most of Ford's powertrain development...it's 50% incredible marketing.

Ford builds engines they put in cars. GM builds automobiles that have engines. GM sells cars. Ford sells engines.

Let's rephrase this. Will a ZLE blow the doors off a Mustang?

One thing that I have noticed is that nearly every single person that has a complaint about the ZL1LE, whether its the looks or the timing or manual only or depreciation or whatever, almost every single one of them on the site just so happens to own a ZL1.

Funny how that seems to happen ...

I can agree on stuff like EcoBoost, but not the Voodoo.

Will the ZLE blow the doors off a Mustang? Depends on what Mustang. I would hope it beats a GT350R. Will it beat a GT500? I guess we have to wait and see.

GM seems to now save their money by not advancing engines during their shelf-life unlike they once used to. Apparently they are spending their time and money on advancing the car itself...does this offer the greatest return??

I'll put my money of the ZLE based on the ZL1 lap times. Ever wonder why Ford tests at the Ring but there are no full lap times on any of their 'hot' Mustang versions?

I think they may have realized you can only go one way once you go down the path of posting times. Tough when not only do you have to beat your competitor......but you also have to beat yourself.
