Mine had this issue. These cars are made with huge slack in the drivetrain. I personally do t think its you. I've driven nothing but sticks for 10 years and never heard any drivetrain slack noise before. It's caused by being made cheaply. It's incredibly annoying and changing how you drive can get rid of the noise. It's mostly from the 2 piece flywheel. There is a spring inside it that winds up and springs loose.
And shifting in reverse. Just wait 2-3 seconds and you should be good. |

it all has to do with it being a hydraulic system clutch, they just are not as consistent as the cable type, but they don't wear on you near as much

It won't be as likely to happen in reverse...practice smooth engagement, and some of the tips offered in here. You'll figure it out in time...that's the biggest thing - time.

You shouldn't really have to think about how to drive your car all the time so you can stop the car from making an annoying noise. Mine makes it if I down shift, especially if I let the clutch out fast. When it happens at low speeds (like what you guys are talking about) like at a red light or stop sign its a bit embarrassing. Hey look at that nice car wonder whats wrong with it, or that guy can't drive. Really wish they could do something to fix it. Main reason why I want to sell this car as soon as I can.

Be mindful that we might not be talking about exactly the same thing, here. What does yours do when downshifting? ....If you've been to the dealer to eliminate the possibility of any mechanical problems - you may just need to be mindful of what you're doing. Eventually, it'll become habit, and you won't think any more. |

When I downshift it is almost impossible for my car not to make a clunk sound, so I wont downshift, and Im not going 60 mph and dropping it into 2nd gear just a normal downshift. Like I said the dealer, neither of them would even take the car into the shop and check and see if there was something else wrong with it they just said it was normal characteristic of the car (drive line clunk). I did drive others but they were no where near how loud mine is and it was hard even to make the sound in some of them. So I think there could be something else wrong with mine or a way just to make it like the other ones I drove.

Thats where I'm at now with it. Dealer isn't any help called 1 800 number and esculated it and they told me that there was nothing they would do because the dealers are there ears and they feel its fine and basically to bad if Im unhappy with it. So I just let the car sit in my garage for now. How did you even lemon law this problem. I cant even get the dealers to take it up on the lift and check things out on it.

You're jumping to invalid conclusions about both the quality of this car, and the manufacturing of other manual transmission cars. One situation does not represent the other 500,000 5th gen Camaros out there... The little clicking you can hear if you're not smooth enough in 1st gear is normal as normal gets. UNLESS....we're talking about two different noises. It sounds like you had a bigger issue - and I don't think the focus of this thread this is the same thing. |

I can make mine happen in any gear and its not just a little click like the other cars I drove its a loud clunk. It just makes it be an unpleasant ride, so I rather not drive it. But if its fine than somebody can buy it and maybe it won't annoy them. Any reasonable offers I would listen to
