Officer Candidate School
Recently, I have signed a service agreement to attend Officer Candidate School, and I will be detaching from NPTU Charleston next week. I will be unavailable upon my arrival to OCS in Newport, Rhode Island. Becoming a member of the commissioned ranks is—I know, it's hard to believe—more important than smashing trolls for the following 3 months.
The best part is losing the 13 freaking buttons on my dress blue pants. No pair of pants should have 13 buttons. My new job will be to become a flight officer, which requires me to learn how to fly, navigate, and do other cool things with the Navy's awesome aircraft. It's going to be awesome. Wish me luck, and feel free to share any of your own experiences. Discuss.

Have fun landing on a bobbing up and down carrier deck. At least you can say that you can do some thing that a Airforce or Army pilot can not do.
B careful and good luck

Congrats! you really have your work cut out for ya!
My son is USNA 08, Marine captain, winged in 11 Flying EA6B Prowlers now and transitioning to F18Growlers I showed him pictures of my 13 SS hud- he said it was much better than the ones in his jets.... Not sure I'm ready to let him drive the LS3 . He can fly a $60million jet but cannot shift worth a darn. P.S. re: fuel costs -- while flying his burn rate for fuel runs about $100 a minute. |
