ZL1 HP Estimate?
So earlier today I was trying to explain to a friend the difference is HP between the V6, V8 and ZL1 in the Camaro line up.
It seems I've leveled up about 4 slots in the Camaro horsepower chart according to my math. 10'-11' V6 312hp 12'-15' V6 323hp (sold 13' 2LT/RS Camaro last month) V8 426hp V8 1LE 426hp (+suspension, ZL1 tires & rims) Z/28 505hp ZL1 580hp [supercharged] (bought ZL1 last week) ZL1 with mods 640hp? (I do run 93 octane using 91 + Torco additive) So here is my small list of power adder mods: Roto-Fab Intake & Big Gulp Air Scoop, ATI Super Damper & 5% Under drive Pulley + 93 octane! I need some C5 math wizards to help me out here..... My guess is 640hp mainly due to the 5% under drive pulley. At 15% drivetrain loss for a manual this puts the RWHP #'s around 544rwhp? Is this accurate? I know most people over estimate the hp gains from mods so I'm just trying to be realistic with my hp gain #'s during conversations. Thx

I would get tuned for 91 if you dont have 93.
Not sure about zl1 power gains from mods since i dont have one but a bump of 60hp seems high. |

I'm using Torco fuel additive to get from 91 to 93.

I am by far no expert but you seem to be close. A friend of mine, his ZL1 can be seen on ADM Performance Facebook page, puts 730 RWHP. I cannot remember what was done though. Lol

Subtract about 100 hp from your estimate.
An M6 ZL1 puts down ~500 rwhp and you've added about 40 with the CAI and 5% lower and no tune. Edit: Nevermind... I see you're talking flywheel and your estimate would be correct then. |

Is there really that big a difference between 91 and 93 that would require a separate tune? I'd say no.

Depends on the tune.

Yeah I suppose.. I guess I wouldn't want a tune so aggressive that it required such a targeted octane. Unless of course it was E85
