When I bought my 1LE I was asked for my USAA insurance card to get the 750 discount, not my members card.

Also try using carsdirect.com and build what you want to get an idea of price and what is truely feasible to get the car at. My buddy actually just went through them to buy his 14 mustang gt and never saw a dealership until he picked it up. They have dealerships that fight to get your business at the price listed on their website. That's what I did when I bought my titan and it was awesome and I worked at dealerships for 8 years, unfortunately I had to go to a dealership since I was trading in my truck. Hope this helps some of you guys. Just built your car on carsdirect.com and price shows 42,893.00.

Build your car right here and go by the invoice price:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=303745 If your dealer won't sell it to you for that price then find a new dealer. As for your dealers $1200 package, locking lugs, floor mats, tint, etc, etc, I would totally pass on little crap like that. All of the things in that package can be added by yourself as you see fit. Saving $1200 by NOT going with their "package" will reduce your monthly payment by $20-$30. Do you really want to finance a set of floor mats for 4-5 years? Keep in mind that the price for a 1SS has recently gone up by over a grand. If you decide to order a car right now, the pricing from the link I provided will not be accurate. If you find any 1LE's on the lots right now, they will have been built with the pricing from the link.

I paid Invoice minus holdback plus dealer fee and invoice included advertising fees so it ended up closer to $750 under invoice. I could not find any dealers in south Florida willing to do a better deal.

Agreed. If you are taller, as the seat is moved back you also get lower which should help a bit for taller folks. It is really dark in the Camaro with all the small windows and big blind spots. Opening the shade on the sunroof makes a big difference by letting all that light in the cabin.

If the goal is to order a track car then this makes sense. Save some of the cash for even more performance upgrades, including the wear and tear on brakes and expensive tires. Maybe get the Recaro seat option. However, if the reality is that you want the more aggressive look and better handling of the 1LE and will probably never see the track (maybe a few fast highway on-ramps) then you may regret not getting leather, HUD, NAV, Sunroof, extra gauges, upgraded audio system, etc. Also, consider resale value. Currently, banks and auctions are figuring a loaded 1LE to be worth $27-29k after 3 years, assuming 12k miles per year. |

I think the leather people are going nuts about is more vinyl than leather, but anyway, I too have been looking for a 1ss 1LE with sunroof. I don't need to spend an extra 5K on a 2ss and RS package. I may regret it at trade in time, but for now I don't need any of it.

I think we all agree a fair pirce is at or below invoice. A good dealer should show you the invoice price. I've had multiple dealers turn the computer screen so i can see it and physically show me the invoice price. They said that minus $750 for usaa discount.
No additioanl research needed. |
