Having said that, if you are completely stock then I don't think a muffler delete buys you much in the way of a change in sound. If you like the way it sounds now, a muffler delete will just be the same sound; only louder.

Changing the sound involves a different exhaust (axle or cat-back), or headers, or both. All of that though is way more expensive than just a muffler delete.

Something else to consider is your long-term goals for your exhaust. For example, if you plan on doing headers within the next year or so, I strongly suggest waiting and doing that first. It changes the sound pretty dramatically.
Do you know? Have you done a muffler delete?

A muffler delete would sound very very nice. I have heard two SS Camaros with muffler delete and the sound... is well worth the $150.00 price tag. Just think if you did headers and a muff delete... You could be your schools alarm system. Wake everyone up.

Having stock mufflers on an SS is like a Its only fun if its the other guy.

I understand just cutting the mufflers off after the resonators won't sound like a muscle car with headers/cam, but would it sound bad? The youtube clips seem to sound fine but you can't really tell on a computer. What's everyone's honest opinion of cutting the mufflers off after the resonators?
I agree.

+1

A good aftermarket system makes the car sound more powerful, and adds volume. A muffler delete just makes it louder without any real depth.

I know these statements might hurt some feelings, but my opinion is mine.

Yes. I said "think" because that is my impression of how it sounds. That is why I said this is a very difficult subject to give advice about.

All I know is I'm at shows with all types.....
And the muffler deletes are show stoppers....
People turn around....

I have the muffler and resonator delete and can't stop turning it off and on LOL.....

I know I won't be able to park backed up to the building anymore.....
The cops gave me a thumbs up....

A few mustangs looked over from the other lane and `backed off like they didn't want any LOL

The last part of the transformation will sound like this.....

That video is like that more so cause of the headers than the Muffler Delete. Have a muffler delete on mine and no where NEAR that loud. If anything the muffler delete is alot quieter than i anticipated. Although definitely louder than stock

It's a combination of both but to each his own.....
The question is more between mufflers and muffler deletes....

So what each sounds like with and without headers is in play....

Good point compare....
And when you do remember the muffler delete cost half the price of just buying the muffler....
But the muffler delete is half the price of the muffler for that installed....

I did the muffler delete the day after getting my car. It's a night and day difference and was very glad I did it. Muffler delete is actually really tame until you open her up. Even then it's not crazy loud. Now I have long tubes and still no mufflers lol. It's deafening when you open her up now, but I like it
