I heard something similar to this effect as well: last year that 30 would be produced in October of 08. From there the production would continually increase until it was at maximum capacity prior to the end of 1st quarter 09.

I wish I knew where I heard it/read it.:(

Here's a site that states that 30 Camaros will roll off the assembly line in October. These are the 30 Camaros that will appear at the end of October. That's about 1 per day.

Here's an invite involving a new product official announcement in August, before production begins. Since no other cars appear to be unannounced, this must be when GM will start publicly advertising the Camaro instead of just releasing vague press papers.

i will let you know when were ready to start rolling the lines

There is so many variable that could push the car back weeks or months if there is a glitch in the system somewhere.

Ok....two thoughts

1st? Who here thinks the 001 Camaro will be at Barrett-Jackson next January, sure would be good timing?

2nd? I don't know if you can really consider the Camaro being a year behing the Challenger. Yes, it is being produced this year, but from what I have heard it is going to be a limited 10,000 unit run for 08.

Just my .02

Aren't the first 30 production cars this year supposed to be for dealers and testers? not for actual sale?

That's correct wolf, it's in one of these threads but I can't find it to point you to it.

First of all: Nice Rides CBR9Seadoo!

Second:
I have no idea where you got that information from ....do you have a link to back this up?

Lutz has stated on numerous occasions that the Camaro must sell 100K+ units per year for GM to go ahead and produce it in the first place.

It definately will not be a "limited" production vehicle like the Challenger....except of course maybe for the absolute top of the line vehicles.

Sorry to break it to you buddy, but this is actually from 08/09/06 when they announced that the camaro would get produced and not just remain a concept. Good speculation though....

he was talking about the Challenger.
It was said that they will not produce over 10,000 SRT8's. How many total, remains to be seen.

well DANG -- HOW did I miss that Editor sitting in one of our meetings?

Guess what?

All bets are off as to when we'll show a production Camaro.

And......what makes you think it will be at a Major New Car show first?

What makes you think it may not just "appear" in several places?

(am I making you crazy??????)

(Good!)

If you could send one over to Bob's Big Boy in Burbank on one of their Friday car nights, that would be cool...just saying...you know.
