air vent inside chrome bubbling

Okay so I noticed today while adjusting my vents inside after turning the AC on that the left middle air vent, the chrome tab on it is bubbling? Anyone know where to buy, or should I just take to dealer for warranty replacement... don't feel like really wasting the trip to the dealer if its a cheap part <20$. post links where to buy if you know, or what itd be called

No, they won't. Most dealerships understand that something like that is due to a production issue, and not something you should have to deal with. Also, it gives the dealer some work to do and a clean payment from GM for performing the work. Dealers typically like warranty work

It WILL bubble and peel in the long run. It's a matter of time. Though 2 yrs it shouldn't be doing it already. But after 5? Yep. Instead of going with aluminum. I see a ton of Chevys (mostly 90 models) with chrome tape grilles peeled to sh!t. If you have exterior chrome tape, it WILL peel. That's inevitable. Even if stored in an air conditioned bldg to sit up for 30yrs, adhesive will deteriorate and it'll bubble.

All vinyl products will eventually have this happen, it's not just chrome. The stripe kits tend to start looking like crap after year 4 and need replacement.

GM Parts Direct sells the center Air Outlet Vent for $54.50. It's part number 20965303.

You'll need to remove the leather dash trim to replace the vent. There's a good thread in the DIY section on how to remove it.

If your car is still under its bumper to bumper to warranty, I would just let the dealer replace it. It would be worth the trip.
