Rear end ratios
I have not heard any discussion of this topic. Im assuming the Camaro will get the Tr6060 six speed which has a big overdrive in it. Do you think any options will be available?
My best guess is that they will come with a 3.42 and that will be it. Im talking V8 manual cars here. I know they have to squeeze every last mpg out of them they can but 4.10's are ideal imo. Opinions? |

Well my friend, I don't know anything about production chevs right now, so I really couldn't say.
That said, if they have a transmission that already has a steep overdrive, I could see them throwing a smaller rear in it, just to keep things manageable in the torque department. |

Im guessing it might be safe to assume that the camaro will also come with the dreaded CAGS?
Im sorry if a lot of things Im asking have already been covered. Things are still a long way off and a lot can change. |

With the amount of torque that the camaro will undoubtedly have, I would be very surprised to see a 3.42 in the rear. Even with a big overdrive in 6th. I would look for something between 2.73 & 3.23.

The Mustang offers two gear choices. I'd say look at those (I can't remember what they are off the top of my head) and figure something near that.

Gotta love this shit!

My thoughts are gearing (haha) towards a 3.42 for all the reasons listed above. Even though GM wants this to be a powerhouse, they still gotta wave that "low MPG" flag (even though most of us here don't give two shits about MPG). Personally I could care less, only because I'll be swapping 3.73s if not 4.10s once someone makes them.

6 speeds will probably run 3.42's, with the 5th and 6th using over drive ratios.
I get about 28 MPG at 70 mph in 6th, even with a 427 smallblock. Autos will likely receive a 2.73/3.15 performance ratio. |

I agree too, except I'm thinking that will be the ratio(s) for the manual too. Isn't the G8 right about there as well as the CTS-V?

We've been told that the Automatic will have the paddle shifter. When in paddle shift mode, the CAGS (Computer Aided Gear Selection) should not affect the gear you want it to be in.

I'd look for 3.15's
but you know there'll be some 4.10's out there about 2 hours after they go on sale |
