Tire tread

hey guys, I brought my Camaro V6 LS in for an oil change yesterday and they told me the tread on my back wheels is completely gone, I got the car new (2012) and have exactly 20,000 miles on it, is this normal for the BFGoodrich P245/55R18 all season tires? Thanks dudes.

Should get more miles out of them, have you measured the thread? Have you done any burn outs?

Tread life depends all on how you drive. How hard are you on it? Do you do a lot of burn outs? Also, remember that this is a RWD car and the rear tires will wear faster than the fronts. Hope this helps.

Moved from the general 5th Gen section to the specific tire section. Please try to keep threads in the proper sections. Thank you!

and to answer your question, you should probably get more life out of the stock all seasons. Depends on your driving style, though.

When they said the tires were gone completely, does that mean that the treads are evenly worn down to the wear bars or wherever or just part(s) of the treads are worn badly enough to qualify as all worn out? Tire pressure, rear alignment, and your driving are all involved. It is possible that your driving might need slightly different rear tire inflation and/or alignment than what the car actually has.

Jumping on the throttle coming out of corners is also likely to create a little wheelspin. Normally this won't be enough to hear but it will be enough to cause more rapid wear. 323 HP is more than enough power here.

20k miles???
Wow, that is low, they have something like a 60k mile warranty I thought.
I got 96k out of my original ones.
Rotated every other oil change.

I was going through rear Pirelli Pzeros every 16K miles and I never do burnouts.

Last year I switched to BFG Comp 2s (still performance summer tires) and so far the tread is lasting a lot better.

Measure the tread depth and do that for the fronts too. Post that info for us to help further. Sound like to many burnouts. You should be able to get 40K miles out of those tires.

It would be normal if you are driving aggressively.
