420 is not enough for me so mine is going to Mallett's!
I talked to Mallett cars out of Berea OH last week and they said they will be doing the new Camaro! They are as close as you are going to get to reliable GM performance. Check out the web sight www.mallettcars.com

422 hp and 3800 lbs = not quite fast enough for me.
Don't forget the Vette has the same engine and it wieghs 500+ lbs less. I want my Camaro to beat a stock LS3 Vette if I happen to run into one. I miss my modded LS1 z28 (heads/cam, full exhaust, gears, etc). It took the smile of many of Vette owners face with the car. I'll start with a full exhaust and some tuning. Then add a nice head/cam package soon afterwards. That should be good for me. A decent head/cam package will put the LS3 well over 500hp (at the crank). Lingenfelter is good but expensive. Your best bet is a well established LSX tuner in your area. I would stay away from the big named tuners (Hennessy, Salleen, etc - those type shops are way overpriced). |

I would nearly piss on myself with 422HP! That will be the fastest I have ever had on 4 wheels. However, knowing the cost of these superchargers some of you guys have mentioned on this thread(thanks for the names of these companies btw) I could possibly see my self dropping one in my SS. However, if fate deems it that I cannot, then like some of you, I will get a tuner, CAI with a 95mm throttle body assembly, and some performance pipes cat-back, with possibly some chrome headers (if anyone has info on great heder sets let me/us know) just to hear my lion purr! Wjhichever way any of us go, I look forward to having this car soon!

I would only like to hit around 500bhp.
What would i need to do to get those results and maintain reliability? I keep hearing about Cams Cams Cams, whats the big deal with those? |

I think all I will do are long tubes and exhaust. This is a daily driver and I am nervous about putting a lot more power through differential. I think the tranny can handle it, but I know the 4th gen diff was not real strong.
If I did spend some money on the motor though, I think I would be calling Katech. |

A cam is what controls the opening and closing of your valves. When you replace the stock cam with an aftermarket one, you can benefit from valves opening more, at a faster rate, and for a longer duration. Which means you can get more air and fuel, and more power.

"Only" and "420 horsepower" shouldn't even be in the same sentence.
