3LT. Z51. Question

I have never owned a corvette I am going to order a C7.It's just me and my wife and are just looking for a weekend driver. We do want a real nice one, question is is it worth going for the Z51?I am not being cheap,we can afford the Z51 3LT just what to know is it worth the extra money. Is the ride any different? Do you get that much more for the money?

For a weekend cruiser, you won't really need a Z51. As for the $8005 3LT trim option, you get everything the 2LT has plus the ff: Custom Leather-wrapped interior, Nappa leather seating surfaces, Navigation, and Instrument panel in interior color. The ride is no different between the trim levels.

All the trim levels are nice, it just depends if you want more & more amenities and creature comforts. Many details & info here: http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-st...ecs/trims.html

You probably already bought your C7 but if you desire NAV it's $795 more on the 2LT and included in the 3LT which makes the upgrade even easier to justify.

Video, see ride difference mentioned at 4 minute mark:

From cars.com review:
http://www.cars.com/chevrolet/corvet...reviewId=59752

Z51 vs. Base Suspension

One of the biggest takeaways is how different ride quality is between the base suspension and the Z51's performance suspension. Base and Z51 Corvettes may as well be two completely different cars.

For $2,800, the Z51 package adds invaluable performance features to move the 'Vette as fast as possible around a racetrack, including a sport suspension, unique chassis tuning, larger wheels with higher-performance tires, and much, much more. A Magnetic Ride Control suspension with adjustable firmness is a separate $1,795 option available only on 'Vettes with the Z51 package.

The Z51 is a more refined performance package than the former Corvette Grand Sport, which was a fast but raw experience. Similar levels of handling are achieved without the Grand Sport's disturbing front tire chatter, which reverberated through the steering wheel when turning into a parking space.

The Z51 package's awesome performance for the money is offset by its ride quality. Z51s ride with the subtlety of a battleship speeding through a no-wake zone. I struggled to differentiate ride quality of the optional Magnetic Ride Control suspension's Tour, Sport and Track settings over choppy roads. Enthusiasts may not find the ride quality overly offensive coming from a car with lowering springs or stiffer shocks.

Dropping the Z51 package transforms the Corvette into a car completely capable of driving cross-country in comfort, with a soft ride that's still taut enough to be considered sporty. Many Corvette owners enjoy driving and do a lot of it — whether it's from car show to car show or cross-country on vacation. A base-suspension 2014 Corvette is the car those buyers want. Getting from home to the racetrack may be as far as you want to drive the Z51.

I have a Z51 w/mag shocks in an LT3 and find the ride in touring very comfortable and have taken several long trips and enjoyed every mile, knowing I can out handle and out accdelerate 99% of anything on the road. I am constantly amazed at the sheer pleasure of this car in any transportation mode. I am so glad that I didn't buy a POrsche or BMW and have to deal with totally arrogant dealers with snotty attitudes.

I got a Z51 with mag ride, I don't do a whole lot of performance driving but given the choice again I would still get both options(pet peeve, I couldn't get a non z51 just because the side vents are cosmetic/closed off). Trim is personal preference, I went with 2lt+nav as 3lt was not appealing to me enough for the money. Also remember that these are not options you can add after the fact so make sure it's what you want or don't want.

The price difference between the 2LT and 3LT weren't worth it IMO.

I went with the 2LT and got the navigation.

I had magnetic ride in my ZL1 and will NEVER be without it.

I may never need the Z51 options with the magnetic ride cuz I doubt I'll ever race my C7, but I love the smooth ride the magnetic ride gives and I'd rather have it all and not need it than need it and not have it.

Personally very satisfied in my 3LT choice I get compliments all the time how nice the interior is and it looks just as amazing on the inside as the out. Dont see why have such a nice looking car from the outside only to get into a mediocre interior.

Nothing wrong with a 2LT Z51!!!

You can use the $3000 you saved over the 3LT for mods.

Dada, the 2LT is perfect! Half the price of 3LT and the only real difference is nav is standard and there is more color and leather on 3LT. That's it. The difference in the leather 3LT and vinyl 2LT is very minimal as far as look and feel. You will not be disappointed!

Thanks guys, I did get the supplier discount and ordered navi so I really can't complain. Now I'm just wondering if I waiting for the 15? but that same argument would happen again when I got the 15 oh well.
