Again, this Camaro MUST compete w/ the Mustang GT....in every way, shape, and form. If the price is too high, it won't cut it. A base V8, IMO, should have the LS3, IMO, and will be under 30K. This will lead to the Camaro community going nuts, buying up all the V8's, GM will have to open another factory to try to meet demands, all the V6's will be sold, all the top of the line (Z28's) Camaro's will be sold. GM will be adding extra shifts to try to get them all out the door..... close your eyes and picture it. Quote:
Oh, and the LS3 does cost less than the LS1. Go look for a crate engine and compare. Last I remember, LS1's were going for 7K and the LS3 was at 6,800 or something like that. |

* The G8GT isn't anywhere NEAR 40K, it's 32K loaded * The G8 is produced in Australia then shipped over here. It will be vastly less expensive to produce in Canada. Last edited by Sphinx002; 06-04-2008 at 10:35 AM. |

Cars Getting Heavier
Think about that for a minute. Collectively we are worried about Fuel Consumption. However, we consistently question why Vehicles are getting heavier.
The reasons are many. Consider the Federally mandated Safety requirements. Stbility control? Airbags? Roll over strength, ABS, Restraints (i.e. Seat belts). This may be slightly off topic, but it does look at the reasons for the various powertrains being considered. All of these elements have contributed to additional weight to our beloved vehicles. All of these enhancements come at a price. Add to this customer demands for ride quality, environment (i.e. Quiet!), emissions, ad infinitum! It all adds up to more weight. Sure we could have a lightweight econobox. But that isn't the purpose of the Camaro. In the end, it all has an impact on the types of powertrains needed to move these vehicles efficiently. In the end, it boils down to what we (like it or not) have mandated as a society. That's just the weight and performance side. Obviously it takes its toll on Financial Cost of the vehicle! You will have many choices. V-6? V-8?, Turbo 4? Manual Tranny? Automatic? That's what makes this such a great opportunity for both the Manufacturer and the Consumer! |

That GN might have the turbo V6 that we've been hearing about for future cars. Remember Dragon...?

So I'm kinda confused, lets say the base V8 Camaro does get a LS3, does that mean a 30000 dollar 430 HP Camaro is better than a 425 HP 40000 dollar Challenger?
