Well, as has been said, the auto is quieter than the manual. Also, cold weather and miles seemed to make mine sound more aggressive. Give it a bit of time. If you're still unhappy, do something with the mufflers.

I have an automatic, and at 2400 miles now, there's a more aggressive sound. I don't know if it's just the colder weather or the car being broken in (the muffler losing something over time? Heh) - but it sounds a lot better now. I'm debating getting exhaust, but if the car is going to sound more & more aggressive on its own..maybe not...

My LS3 is really starting to sound good. So much that I am probably NOT going to do anything with the exhaust. The more I drive it the more that exhaust loosens up and she's
sounding SWEET!!! I'm sure it's not loud enough for some, but it is plenty aggressive for me. It may be I like keeping it in 1st, 2nd and 3rd as long as possible. With the rpm's up
it a freaking beast!!!

So what's your mileage, if you don't mind me asking?

The DIC says I'm getting 18.1 right now. That is actually better than I thought.
I must have been doing some granny driving. You know I just
think now maybe you wanted to know how many miles I have on the car, well if that's the case then it's 3042.

Having both (LS3 and L99) I feel that the LS3 definately benifited from a muffler delete. The L99 sounded great after cutting out the resonator and adding an SLP axle back deal. Your choice, but I would not go with strait pipes alone.

No offense but I think the exhaust note is weak. Due to an ankle injury I had to get an automatic 2SS Vert. Even with the top down it's quiet. The Infiniti G37S I traded in had a better sound. The speedometer is the only thing that reminds me that I have an LS3 under the hood. Now I'm going to have to spend over a grand to have the exhaust yanked out and replaced to make it sound like it should have from the start.

I love the car in all ways but the exhaust note sounds like I'm in a souped up Prius.

Maybe that's my problem. I only have 400 miles....should I wait to see if it sounds better? Does it truly improve as it loosens? I'd like to imagine it only gets just so loose....Suggestions?

How much was that? I'm contemplating the same thing.

If you bought an automatic, you don't have an LS3 under the hood

Too bad the stock SS comes from the factory sounding like its either been neutered or pre-pubescent. I was absolutely let down with how the exhaust sounded.

They must have been listening to Beethoven... Bc that's what factory exhaust sounds like!

I can agree that the LS3 definitely comes alive after 800 miles or so, sounds great now (1599 miles)
