Front Plate bracket installed by mistake.. grrr
Dealer called and said they prepped the car so fast he didn't get to them in time. So now my front plate mount is installed with rivets...
He said he would fix it.. but that would involve removing the bumper, filling and repainting... grrrrr.. I suppose it is not worth the trouble or potential for further screw up.. Or do I just remove it and have 2 little holes? I'm betting I could fill & blend just fine w/touchup paint.. thoughts?

Make them fix it. Why would you take delivery of a car with holes in the bumper?

No... How do you plan to FILL and TOuchup? Most of the time, touchup paint goes on too thick and is slightly OFF color... Imo, if you are going to do it, don't do it yourself. Get the pros to do it. And well, the fact is, if they promised you that they wouldnt put on the plates... then leave it to their word. If they screw up, they start again, they know this as well. So don't do it yourself =p Or just live with the front plate. =D

I may take it for the weekend and then drop it off to have them fix it. otherwise it will be late next week after the holiday and all..
It would be best of they just swapped bumpers with another car.. done in an hour or so..

There will be FOUR not so little holes, and I doubt that you could fill it and use touch-up paint and it not ne noticeable. If the dealer is willing to fix it, let him. If you don't, you will always look at that front bumper and say "I should have let the dealer fix this". I guarantee that you will feel much better about your car.

I'm sure they'll re-spray the whole bumper.
I say make the fix it and double check it before you take delivery. If it's even remotely visible then make them fix it again. It's not yours until you take possession and don't compromise. You'll kick yourself for a long time if you do.

You guys are right - I'll pick up and enjoy for a few days (I can't wait!) and then I'll drop it back next week or so and have it fixed.
Thanks ps. No laughing at the pics of my front license plate later tonight.

Sorry to hear that. Same situation happened to me, I had mine fixed recently by the dealer through their body shop connection, they did a great job without having to remove the bumper. Look at this post for before/after pics, posts #16 and #21:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90294 Good luck. Have the dealer take care of it and don't worry. |

I would be leery about them repainting the whole bumper, if they are going to attempt to fill and paint the area around it then worst case secnario is if it looks like crap just put the license bracket back on to cover it up.

If it were me? I'd remove it myself, and put plastic plugs approximating the body color into the holes. That's just me though. But before I left the dealer, I think they'd be doing something or other for me, since they equipped the car in a way contrary to the way their customer specified!

I would either leave it alone or replace the bumper.......a fill in the long run will look bad.........JMHO....Good Luck

Tell them they now owe you an SS for putting holes in your Camaro.
