Owning SSes for 50 Years
|
My baby is having to stay outside all night for the past couple weeks. My only garage is taken up by the old Vette sitting in there in a million parts getting a head gasket replaced...hope to finish up tomorrow. I took the cover off the Camaro and drove it to pick up some small parts for the Vette. Everytime I drive my SS I simply revel in the performance of this car and especially when you can "get on it" a little....dang! why does gasoline have to cost so much!!!

Did the work Sunday, but took pics today - I installed the Headlight Armor Carbon Fiber film on my center Console and cupholder. Also replaced the ice-blue lights in the center gauges with white, and got the cup-holder lighting finished (it was installed a few weeks ago, but just taped in...).

I didn't use the $400.00 GM ambient lighing kit. Instead, I bought pre-wired surface mount LEDs from www.oznium.com for about $3.50 each. And I spliced them to the to some existing ABL wiring in the center console, using directions from this thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138879 And at the same time, I installed footwell lighting in front and back, using 4 more of the same LEDs. So, in all, I spent less than $30.00 for parts/supplies, and about 3 hours for the install - but I am a total noob and a perfectionist, so I am ssslllooooowww when it comes to doing these types of things. But it was fun, and the effect is very eye-catching.

What's the website where you found the Carbon Fiber Inlays? The cup holder one probably just sticks on, but do you have to remove something else first for the other one? Looks dynamite by the way.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113178 http://www.headlightarmor.com/hexis-...nch-rolls.aspx The film has a great light-catching texture. I also used the film to black out my bowties front & back. Oh, and I did the cup holder with the same film - it is an aftermarket aluminum one purchased from eBay. It looked good unfinished, but with the CF looks much more "finished."
