So the LSA is a name all in itself... And after reading some good info it's an amazing motor design (: (:

Interesting trivia......the extra power the ZL1 LSA produces over the prior LSA is in the blower. Eaton who manufactures the 1900 and 2300 TVS rotors signiificantly improved the sealing of the supercharger therefore improving its efficiency. The LSA in the 2012 CTSV makes the same power but GM decided not to go through all the remarketing for the change....same motors...

Camshaft, cylinders heads and even the calibrations are the same. We just compared the calibration data from my ZL to the current CTSV file and there are no secrets!

very interesting. Most likely why there is such a big variance on the net on what the CTSV people are dynoing at, and also why the tested trap speeds of the ZL1 havent been much better than the 2012 CTSV

No, you could say it has a LSA engine. A LS9 is a step or 2 above and another 15-20k

ANyone who knows what an LS9 is should already automatically know what an LSA is. If they dont know what an LSA is, they most likely never heard of an LS9 anyways, thus not needing to lie about it being an LS9

That makes everything a bit more clear. I'd say you're good to go from this perspective. It IS kind of like the LS9. But go ahead and introduce everyone to the LSA while you're at it!

oh i see. Well, talking about the ZR1 to somebody that might not know much about it could just be opening a whole other can of worms. It might be easier to say its similar to the regular SS v8 engine, but with a supercharger on it!!

I find it easier to say it has the motor from a ctsv.

Two main reasons.

1. Because it does really.
2. Any real car enthusiast knows what the cts-v is.

Actually they do have an LS-5. It's a 454 big block that was introduced in the 70 Chevelle.

Thats why it makes more advertised power than the CTS-V. Now, what you're saying could be true and the 2012 CTS-Vs may indeed be more powerful but unless it features all the same changes as are found in the ZL1 variant, it won't be 14 hp
The gain is 24hp not 14hp

yeah but oddly enough there was also an ls6 454 and then the newer ls6. They may have Also reused ls3 and 1 as well but I think those were 396 or 402 motors. Can't remember for sure the specs on those.

So out of curiosity, would components between the LS9 and LSA be interchangeable to some degrees? Say one wanted to go to the 2300 TVS and the LS9 cam. Would this be possible?
