why? let all the guesses be consolidated here. Then we can read through in September and list off who's close, and who was dead-wrong.

It may be a little out there but I have a strong feeling that ......
Base Camaro = 2.0L TDI w/260hp (competition for base Mustang at the same price but more power and fuel efficiency) Camaro RS = 3.6L DI w/ 306hp (affordable pony car with RS sport appearance and still providing over 300hp, a cheaper alternative to the Mustang GT with similar performance) Camaro Z28 = 6.0L w/ 368hp (competition to Mustang GT and Challenger R/T) Camaro SS = 6.2L w/ 438hp (competition to Challenger SRT8 and Cobra) Camaro ZL1 = 6.2L SC w/ 568hp (finally... a real competitor to take down the 500KR) I have a feeling many or all will disagree... please let me know what you guys think. i have been wanting to express this for a while now and figured now is a good time..... what a good way to start with a thread like this huh??? |

I can't see them doing 3 V8s
likeliest cadidates would be pulled from other production models. the Solsitce Turbo4 (LNF) ~260 the 3.6L LLT V6 SAE certified to 302hp (Base engine for CTS) The Vette 6.2L LS3 certified for 430hp 436hp w/ optional exhaust The CTS-V 6.2L S/C LSA certified for 550hp http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...47&postcount=3 Please put this with the older engine guess thread. |

It does seem a lot at first but I would not be surprised if they come out with the 2.0TDI, 3.6DI, and 6.0 in the first year; with the SS coming a year later with the 6.2(similar to the G8 timeline).. then 6 to 12 months later.. a limited production uber Camaro ZL1 with 568hp. just a thought Last edited by ss4bpf; 05-08-2008 at 02:58 PM. Reason: changed 6.2L to 6.2SC |

There was, a long while ago. in the 80's. They called the engine the "Iron Duke"...but it was terrible. However, this is no Iron Duke, even if it is a 4-banger, 260 hp is 260hp: which is more than the Mustang's current V6 . I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive a Turbo 4 5thgen Camaro, at all!

If you think about the price of the top dog, that will be in the territory of the corvette. i think gm will make some changes to the vett if that happens. besides if they make the price that high for an ss i would get the base z28 and sc it myself, it would cost less and have more horses.
v6 300 hp z28 402 hp ctsv engine ss 460 hp just like the sc cadillac sts |

But a modern, all aluminum, 16 valve, DOHC, direct inject, smooth high reving 4 cylinder is a far cry from that rickety, heavy, iron block, single cam, 1 bbl carburated monstrosity that burned oil at 50k and leaked everything else by 100k. |

Is this THE Stig? I felt like this post was going to one of those "there will be blood" posts. The arguments are great, but it's like puberty and we are all misinforming each other on the ways of women. These guessing posts make me feel constipated while using a laxaitive made of razors.
