I really like the torque gain....

Im sure this is a really dumb question but I am not a car guru...... yet... What makes the Camaro respond a little bit better to mod's than the Mustang?

Camaro SS

Stock: 356.88 rwhp and 360.53 rwtq
With CAI, throttle body, full exhaust: 400.64 rwhp and 404.35 rwtq
Gain with full exhaust: 21.73 rwhp and 29.54 rwtq
Total Gain: 43.76 rwhp and 43.82 rwtq

Mustang GT

Stock: 370.61 rwhp and 340.80 rwtq
With CAI, throttle body, full exhaust: 406.15 rwhp and 378.45 rwtq
Gain with full exhaust: 24.66 rwhp and 13.67 rwtq
Total Gain: 35.54 rwhp and 37.65 rwtq

IMHO...it's the conservative restriction GM builds into their engines. Most LS motors are suffocating since they have SO much potential, but GM restricts them to meet strict emissions/reliability/etc.

Yet...a good, knowledgeable friend once told me that regardless of power output...Chevy engines are Smart, and Ford engines are Dumb...one being able to adapt to its environment SO much more effectively than the other. That could be a factor at play, too...

I agree the LS3 is gasping for air. Also notice the big gains when the headers are added allowing it to exhale better. The better torque is due to it being a larger engine. The thing that I was shocked about was the standard 302's HP number stock. Very impressive, more than the 376 SS. I'm assuming the cams are very aggressive in the 302.

Another thing I didn't read was if the Mustang was the red-key 444hp model or not...I've read many dyno charts putting the LS3 Camaro in the high 360, low 370 ranges. This one was either a dud, or run under poor ambient conditions (power decrease due to that "smart"/"dumb" thing I mentioned). Either way - mod for mod, the LS3 appeared to respond about 25% better - win?

I don't.

Personally?

I'd like to have enough hp to go real fast...with MORE torque to get there faster.

It was a Mustang GT not a Boss. Adding to the fact that the standard 302 is a hot little engine.

Oh and Torque rules!
