I really do not care to completely remove them, I was just kind of hoping to make them less noticeable.

You CAN do that, but you need a much better machine. The process is exactly as I do it in my clay to wax video series.

I have the GG 6" polisher. I use it all of the time. The only reason I got it over the PC is because I could get it locally without shipping and it has a lifetime warranty. You should have no problem making it look better with that and some good polishes. P.S. I know that Corvettes have hard clears so you might need a 3 step compounding/polishing or you could use Meguiar's 105/205.

If it isn't factory is it clear coated or single stage?

I think clear. Almost positive.

Easy way to find out if you have clear... take a light colored towel with a little polish (pretty much anything you have now will suffice) and gently rub in an inconspicuous area.
If you get color transfer you have single stage, if you don't you have clear coat. |

I have hand waxed, and used that crappy buffer, and the pad is never black.

Then it is more than likely clear coated. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend. I can give you 2 OTC products that are gonna do good, but they aren't perfect but it is the cheapest and best results for the price. Or I can give you more expensive stuff that's going to get it better but still not perfect.
