I'm with Andre, lets just be honest that might be the price of the biggest and baddest one. So I hope it not like the GT500 (racing stripes) solid black w/ blacked out windows.
and I maybe way off in my thinking, but the SSR was like $36k-$42k, and it was basically a vet underneath that ugly body. (sorry dad) so why wouldn't GM make a camaro that rivals the vet and make us pay $$$$$ for it.
If I am way off just remember I’m the domestic car new bee.

Newbee, huh...I'll have to take it easy on you then...

Here's a link to the pricing thread (which has a link to some hard evidence) that the Camaro should not be priced higher than 31,000...under any power numbers http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...?t=1011&page=8

Second: Why rival a car that's built by the same company - the vette needs to stay around...It's the Icon that all Domestic cars strive to become...and all the foriegn cars should fear!...Ah heh, ...right........

What I meant was: the Camaro is being marketed at a totally diferent group ergo: no direct Vette competition. It's not a luxury car (as also stated in the 'hard evidence' video linked to above) it's a sport Coupe, a lower class - so to speak, but totally different.

BTW: I believe the SSR was also a limited-time, limited-production model...not 100,000-150,000 car/truck things a year...oh, and it is kinda ugly.

kinda, no that car is ugly, and your right the production numbers on it are small-> 2003 first year around 900.
i'm not saying that i want to spend $40k on a camaro. $31k or so would be great, but if they made a limited # of a high priced balls to the wall camaros, i would pay about $40k for it.

well the sticker on my 06 GTO was high 32K range and I talked them down too 26K with my dad's discount .... so i definitely cant see actually paying more than 30K or so. I think if GM gets to crazy with the price (i.e. 35k +) then they will lose people to other cars whether they be GM or not. maybe not people here but they will lose alot. just a feeling. OBTW this thread could be dangerous, we never know who is watching

Take it w/ a grain of salt. GM couldn't sell enough Camaro's of all types w/ prices like those. It just wouldn't work. GM might as well dig a grave an lie in it right now w/ those estimates. Have faith in GM...it won't cost that much!

um...not to be REALLY rude or anything. But I saw that, too. And instantly disregarded it. Howstuffworks.com is not the most reliable source for speculative pricing, or options. Anybody's best bet is using your own brain in combination with official guesstimates: i.e. 20,000 - 31,000. ~ Bob Lutz

Right! (bold is my "fix" to your statement , btw)

Not sure what you mean, though. Who could be watching that's dangerous? GM? Let them. They can know where we'll stand. Not that it'll help. They've got Mathmatitions that calculate everything, and what prices they NEED to keep the Camaro alive. Don't worry, I trust GM, for the first time in years...they know what they're doing. I can confidently say that there will be no $40k + base Camaro's right off the lot. DISCLAMER: Untill the special edition Camaro's start popping up.

What I really want to see is a 1LE variant. Something not publicized but available for those who know who to ask. Lightweight racing package, let it keep the big engine and all that, but stick it with a cheap stereo and cloth seats.

what i meant was that the more people are willing to pay the higher price they could issue and get away with . not saying it will happen but there are people saying 40K+ is no prob but for the majority of Camaro lovers its not. I feel it will stay about 31K max like Mr. Lutz says so most of us can get the "mid range" LS3 type Camaro and be more than happy i dunno maybe there is no method to my maddness

~Cheers!!

That's what 50% of us are saying...so you picked the winning side just kidding, there are no sides...

There is a definite method to your madness. BOB LUTZ!!! He said it. Now I know that it's nowhere near set in stone. But, at this point, what better guestimate do you have? And who better to guess?

31K is my max so I hope Mr. Lutz is right.
