Mustang is lighter than Camaro so it might be faster, however GM currently does not have the R&D funds that Ford has. After all Ford only made a $2b profit last year while GM just started to pay back the money they owe the tax payers.
I thought the new Mustangs were also going to wiegh in close to 4000lbs

It will be a few years before they make any significant changes like motor in the Camaro...way too costly. The next change is the Convertible...

Hey! Now that would be a really simple thing for GM to do... considering the CTS-V already comes standard with 3.73s right out of the factory!
... but wait... those 3.73's have an LSA attached to the other end of the drive train!

Best regardSS,

Elie

One thing to remember in Camaro upgrades, is that there is always the Corvette. Ford doesn't have a sportscar above the Mustang, so they can make unlimited upgrades. If GM makes a Camaro that is too expensive, some of the Z-28 speculation, all that time and effort is wasted as people just switch to the Corvette. Ford is contained by the Camaro price point, and the Camaro is contained by the Corvette price point. People will just have to content themselves with Henneseys or Bergers.

umm Z06? I think they could squeeze out some more hp, and money out of our wallets.

The Corvette is a very different car. I believe officials said while the Camaro was being developed that they weren't afraid to "step on some toes". They recognize the two cars compete very different segments.
