This is getting ridiculous. The only reason I'm even waiting for Alpine is because the Metra is downright ugly, but it is looking better and better every day...

I was sick of waiting since june, so I bought and painted the metra.

All these supposed release dash kit threads should be banned and deleted. Very, very old now... Maybe I'm just a bitter man.

Has anyone tried to order the Alpine unit from a local car stereo company/installer? I called a local car stereo company, my plan is to have them install the Alpine touch screen and a new head unit. I don't trust myself to do the work.

The stereo company I called had never heard of the Alpine unit. I even gave them the Alpine part number. They called me back and told me they could not even order the Alpine touch screen from Alpine. I don't know if they order online or call their orders in, but they confirmed that they cannot order the touch screen.

If the Scocshe unit comes out first I will likely order it instead of the Alpine. I did get an email back from Scocshe that their touch screen does have buttons for the heated seats and does display the outside temp. Either one of these would have been a deal breaker for me, glad they have both in their unit. I haven't gotten a response from Alpine if their's had buttons for heated seats and if it displays outside temp.

Is anyone else planning on having their touch screen installed by a car stereo company?

i am having mine installed by extreme performance, they are rated as 1 of the top installers in the us and were voted top retailer of the year...little info they get, was what i posted back a couple posts...don,t look for it this month is all i can say..

I too like the looks of the Alpine kit so far. Been waiting over a year, However until it finally gets here if ever. I have enjoyed my calculator (metra kit) a hell of alot better than stock!!
