My trany and shifting is effortless. I feel fortunate and at the same time sad for BLKSS1LE, as he missed out on the joy of a great car.

I am pretty sure he has or very soon sell the car since another member has bought his zl1 rims.

Sorry trying not to hijack the thread here but just out of curiosity... What rpm does the car have to be at so the skip shift doesn't engage? How high do you need to rev to? Very interested to know as I plan on getting a 1LE and I'm quite turned off by this skip shift b.s. I've been driving a manual car for years and I can skip shifts on my own. I don't need my car to tell/force me to! (End rant)

I bought the $20 skip shift eliminator, and installed it immeadiately. No problems

Yeah looks like I'll probably have to do that. Hope doing that doesn't void the transmission warranty though

Pretty sure it is activated between 15-22 MPH, can't remember the RPM range. Skip shift eliminator definitely will not void any part of your warranty.

I don't know the technicals. But find the skip shift triggers when I don't stay in first too long. For example, sitting at a red light the light turns green and you creep out into the intersection in first gear waiting for the cars in front of you to clear and you want to shift into second gear, at that point the blocker comes up and you're forced into the fourth gear. You're going so slowly that the transmission rattles and sounds of metal clank about the bottom of your car. Frustrated you try to press the gas pedal to get out of the way. The traffic from behind is on year rear trying to push you forward into the next lane but you can't go anywhere using your will. Instead you amble at idle across the congested intersection. You're trapped. Paralyzed. Your only recourse is a quick shift into third gear to get a little torque and plow the way to safety.

I hate this and the hill assist.

Well for someone like me who will probably be winter driving the vehicle (I'll buy snow tires don't worry) I can see where this is going to be a problem when driving in slick conditions where short shifting and light throttle are necessary. Looks like the best solution will be the skip shift eliminator!

Im lucky i dont have any tranny issues,it feels just perfect, yes the hill assist SUCKS!i talked to my dealer and said this thing is going to ruin my clutch. As i back into my garage stopping to make sure i dont hit anything, this stupid ass thing engages and wont let go. They aren't sure if it can be lifted so they are checking on it. The skip shift eliminator from Phastek was so simple,it's a 5 min. fix and it works.I think it was like $20.00

I hope GM removes hill assist for the next model year. Judging by many responses on this site, almost no one has a use for it.

I have about 2800 miles on my 1LE. The 2nd to 4th happens at 18 mph. This is my 4th gen 5 and they are all the same. One of my camaros had a hurst shifter from the factory and it was the worst shifting of them all.
