Hi guys, thought you may find this interesting, and dont get me wrong, i love my 2ss but i aso drive an 09 zo6, the differance between the2 performance wise is huge iam sure the zl1 will be a rocket but consider these factors, weight to hp ratio, noise to tail balance, unsprung weight , center of gravity height, & aero drag, apples to oranges, perty much

I too own an 09 Z06 and am excited to see the new ZL1 on the street.I dont think you can compare the two cars in performance though. The Z06 will outperform pretty easily I'd imagine. The Grand sport would be a closer race.

Even with that there are still alot of other things to consider, like rear gear ratios, and transmission gear ratios to name a few. IMO there is no chance the ZL1 will come close to the ZO6. |

stock camaro most of the after markets with similar hp are 3.7-4.2 slp- hennessy - so your telling me that the zl will not be in that range. not to mention the gt500 and the cts-v did it in 4 sec flat with a similar engine. the camaro is lighter. how fast do you guys think it will be? |

Having the ZL1 run to 60 in about 4 seconds is more or less what most expect. Getting it down into the mid 3's would be a substantial accomplishment and I don't think its possible with what we're expecting GM to deliver.

I'm predicting an advertised 3.8. Tested 3.9 or 4 flat depending on the magazine...though the PTM system may let them reach a 3.8...who knows... The faster you get...the more has to be done to change those numbers. For example...if I took my Cobalt which gets stock...let's say a 12 second 0-60 (so upsetting )...and put on aluminum wheels and Eagle F1s (I don't even think they make'em that small...but let's assume. ) I'll bet I can drop 1.5-2 seconds off that time... If you did the same to an SS, you'll be REAL lucky to drop .4 seconds, imo... The numbers aren't accurate, but the concept is what I'm trying to explain... a couple hundred pounds less and a few more hp isn't enough to drop half a second off a CTS-V with an otherwise (for the purposes of this post) identical powertrain... |

you are absolutely correct. Another way to look at it is this, For every 100lbs you lose you can gain about .10 in the 1/4 mile. That's true if your in the 14's, 13's, 12's and maybe the 11's but if your in the 10's and faster it will take alot more. I hope I got my point across

^So then we're looking at an identical performance numbers to the cts-v coupe. So far the best I've seen for it was from Edmunds: 0-60 at 4.2s, and the quarter at 12.2 seconds.
If the ZL1 could somehow miraculously achieve the time laps at 4 seconds or 3.9 seconds and a 12 second quarter, then I'd say that it would accomplish a lot.
