.

and black out taillights... eww no. that reminds me of the 3rd gen cheap black out stuff.

To each their own though. [/QUOTE]

Im glad to see the black lights coming back I cant stand the clear look. I agree click on black outs were trendy but a good job of Clear coat with black mixed in is awesome.
My 2 cents

Flat or satin paint is actually rough (look up the differences in paints, the info is out there). Meaning to clean it you need to spend more time with it and use special products (soaps etc) so that you don't get streaks, dry spots (water on flat surface does not dry evenly), or remove the paint (flat paint has little to NO protectant. This means no drive through car washes and a FULL detail every time you wash or even drive in the rain. You also won't want to use your washer fluid to clean your windshield because you will get uneven drying marks when the fluid hits your paint.

All together its just not worth the pain and effort.

Imo, flat black looks good on most cars but I would only do it if the car was just going to be a show car. If the car was going to be driven at all I wouldn't do it because of the absolute pain it is to keep clean like diarmadhi said. Also for the blacked out tail lights, check your state laws first. I don't about other states but in NC they are illegal.

bottom line

it is a really expensive paint job considering if any piece is mess up it cant be touched up. it has to be stripped and repainted. if you want a rock chip repaired it requires a full repaint of the effected panels. all in all if you dont have a shitload of money you wont be able to keep up with the maintence, not even considering the cleaning required.

dont get me wrong some cars look awesome with flat black paint but the average joe cant afford the upkeep.
