I need some help guys. My winter car is not worth putting on the road. Needs way to much work. I need to know about snow tires for the Camaro. I don't want to do it, but I have to keep it on the road. Best place to get them, do I need all 4, do I need new rims? Any ball park figure on what this will cost me? Thanks for the help.

They do make winter tires that will fit on your rims I think they are the Pirelli scorpions not sure on the name but I think Joe has them on his new 1LE. I have no idea on the cost as I have never looked into them. Try tirerack.com they usually have good prices. You could also just replace the Pzero tires you have with an all season tire. I bought Goodyear Eagle GT all season tires over the summer they were $900. I don't plan on seeing how they handle snow so I can't help you there. I also heard the General G max all season tires are good too.

Thanks Ron, I just have to decide weather all season or snows are for me.

Sunset6928,

You're welcome to drive my car if you like to feel the winter tires.

Ron's right - my car is wearing Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires. They full-on winter tires....given the RWD, power, and tight suspension on this thing - I wanted the most grip possible.....and they're REAL nice.

They make a TON of sizes...you can get a set of crappy 19" winter wheels for a few hundred dollars and mount 19"/245mm tires on them for probably around $1000.00-1300.00.....tirerack.com is real useful for pricing things out.

You DEFINITELY need all four. Otherwise, if you keep the summer tires on front you'll compromise steering and braking in snow and cold. But if you don't want to buy wheels...they do make the proper sizes for the SS wheels (that's what I'm running).

I'm running 20" Blizzacks on the rear and summer Pirelli's on the front. No problems last year but she sat in the garage most of the winter. No major snow or slush. The tires are a little lumpy in the cold after sitting for a week at a time.

Joe, I went on to tire rack, all the have -18" Scorpions, with theAndros Spec D wheels, I don't think they will fit on my car. Any idea where I could find 20" Scorpions to fit on the stock rims. Dunn tire has blizziak 275/40ZR20 $243 ea. leaning towards 4 of those unless I can find 20 " scorpions.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....corpion+Winter

There are 245/45-20, and 275/45-20 in there. I have no previous experience with winter tires. I've always driven on all-seasons or summer. So far - I don't know how I ever lived without them!

But, my point is, I chose the Scorpions because I know the Camaro team used them on their cars when developing in the winter time. However, the Blizzaks are good tires, too.

- I'm going outside now to see if my car has 45 profile or 40 profile tires on my car. I swear there were more 20" tires on that website a month ago.

EDIT: My tires are the appropriate size & profile for the SS. It would appear that the Scorpion Winter is either discontinued or Tire-rack doesn't carry it anymore...but it's not on Pirelli's website, so I'm going to guess the former...Another option in proper SS sizes is the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....n+Ice+%26+Snow

Thanks Joe, I will try and find the scorpion snow and ice in the stock size in the area here. If not I will try and order from tire rack.

Hi - everyone has already given you good advice on Winter tires, but I'll add my 2 cents since I drive mine all winter as well. I ran Blizzaks for the last 2 years I bought from another member on C5. It is much easier with a second set of rims. The Blizzaks worked great and I was able to get through everything driving it to work 30 miles each way every day.

I just bought 4 new Blizzaks from Dunn tire, they are mounted and stacked in the garage, I'll have to get them on ASAP. Dunn was cheapest route for me since I already had the rims.

Consider slightly thinner than stock tires, and just drive carefully when it is bad.

By any chance does someone have a stock set of side markers that they are willing to sell? Or trade for a set of black ghosted showstopper ones?
