My dealer gives out $7 oil changes when you buy the car from them and free annual inspections for as long as you own the car!!

5yr/100k powertrain warranty comes with every Camaro. The dealer does not have to do the servicing to keep the warranty intact. If the receipt only said 6 qts I highly recommend you check your oil level. It takes 8qts with a filter change on the L99/LS3. If you got all of what you said done for $64 then the dealer lost money big time if they did indeed use Mobil 1. Even if they used the GM Dexos Semi-Synthetic bottled oil they still lost money.

Sorry. Had my facts a bit off. It's a lifetime power train warranty.

After I posted, I got to thinking' 6 gts ain't right. The invoice charged me for 6 units of oil, so I just assumed it was 6 quarts. Checked my oil level and it's fine. The dealer does give a 40% discount on oil changes as part of their loyalty program. I wonder if this is how they have to bill it in their system.

Always do it yourself. It's easy as cake. Why would you let some random douchebag touch your car? That's crazy if you ask me, especially considering what you're gonna get charged.

If you have the time and a place to do it, I would recommend doing it yourself. Just keep the receipts for your records.

each quart Mobile 1 Full synthetic 6.47 = 38.82
filter 10.24
drain pan 6.26
oil change kit 3.47 (optional)
Total: 58.79 (before tax)
58.79

Cost of getting the pleasure of doing it yourself and peace of mind knowing the job was done correct instead of some guy who could care less about your car doing it...PRICELESS

Another reason I prefer to do it myself is how do you absolutely know the oil you ask them to put in is the oil they put in it unless you stand there and watch them. You could ask them for a specific brand and they just put in something different and charge you for a more expensive one. Maybe I am just paranoid.

My dealer comped oil changes for 3 years. Hope they use the right one.

My roommate has a full size Toyota and his changes from the dealer are $120.00 each time (every 3k now). I opted to buy the lifetime oil change option for my new car just to avoid the hassle.....

LS3/L99: 8.0 qts........5W-30 Synthetic Oil(GM uses Mobil 1)
V6: 6.0 qts........5W-30 Synthetic Oil(GM uses Mobil 1)
^^Capacities are WITH replacement of oil filter
LS3/L99 Oil Filter: ACDelco PF48.........K&N HP-1017........Napa Gold 7060
V6: ACDelco PF2129............K&N HP-7003........Napa Gold 7090
The Camaro 5 wiki needs to be updated then because I got the oil capacities from this page: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/wiki.p...specifications

Quote:
Engine oil capacity (qt / L): 7.6 / 7.2(v6) 8.9 / 8.5(v8)
Either way, it's not just a 5 quarts of your regular old Napa Special oil for a daily beat around car.
