So many US Military retired, yet working second careers. Working second careers by choice or working from necessity?
I am now in my late 50s, grew up in a career Air Force family. Proud at my old age to still refer to myself as an officers BRAT. As a child I lived in many countries and to this day think I had the ultimate childhood experiences. Dad was a Colonial, base commander of a few SAC bases, he retired in the 1960s with a pension that allowed him to play golf into the early 1990s before he died.
After Dad retired, we had a beautiful home, Dad could give me new cars, Dad could afford to send me to University. A lifer in the US military should be able to do that for their family even today.
I find it disturbing that lifers in the military might now be required to have second careers.

Teachers may not have the highest paid jobs out there, but they are also not the lowest.

Besides it's all about what you do with your money once you earn it, not how much you make. If you save and invest most of what you make, you will be able to buy things later on in life that you want, and more importantly you will be able to do things when you retire.

I keep saying that to the younger members and they misinterpret that as me talking down to them. You are wise!

Sales specialist for Install America.

I make about between 97,000 to 130,000 dollars a year.

I woked hard for what I do now and I rewarded my self with a 2010 IOM 2SS Camaro SS and a 2011 5.0 Mustang GT.
