Question about lowering?

i just purchased the Eibach pro plus kit. i was wondering if i needed to get a camber kit as well or if my suspension and tire wear will be fine without one.

curious as well. back in the Z world if you went more then an inch you likely needed a rear camber kit

the front was lowered 1" and the rear is lowered 1.3" if that extra info helps with an answer

I would ask Scrming. I know he lowered his Camaro and I think he used an Eibach kit.

There are some before and after pics somewhere; I am not sure if they are on the forums or on his personal website, though.

Wish I could answer this but I can't. I'm interested in the answer because I'm looking to lower my Camaro as well.

So far with each lowering kit I've read about installed on these cars, the only thing needed afterwards was an alignment and thats about it.

I didn't put one on mine. I have the Eibach kit too. It needs an alignment after the install, but the tire wear is fine at least 4000 miles later. Can't comment on any long-term effects on the suspension though, but I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

I have heard that you can lower 1 inch and you can get your alignment set woap. More than that will require the camber kit. (plus you will have extra stress on the struts)

Yea the 4th gens no more then 1" or ride, shocks and alignment suffers, so I guess same on the 5th gens also? I did full street/strip on my 98 but does anyone know if the v6 shocks can handle the shorter travel and stiffer springs? The 4 th gens shocks were junk and were blown out quickly, Only shock that was any good is the Koni SA's which I run.I would like to lower but not sure yet and dont want to do shocks as well again!!

You are correct sir. I lowered mine with coil overs not just springs, but I had it at a 2 3/8" drop at first. Took it in for an alignment without all of the extra crap the suspension dealers try to sell you. The guy at the alignment shop told me there is all kinds of adjustments he can do to the suspension to get it into specs and he did. I printed out the specs that Pfadt recommended and gave it to him. I have since raised it back up a 1/2" so now I ride with a 1 7/8" drop and love the look of it.

My biggest complaint is, why don't these cars sit like this from the factory?

here is a link to my thread with photos.

My Yellow 2LT lowered with KW V1s

and here is a recent photo of how it sits right now.

Looks good! I need to lower mine but not sure if I will go to coil overs yet. More research to do. I definitley will do the bars though. On another subject, how is the Airaid mod doing? I cut a hole in the shield and put the snorkel back in. No change either way so why not. Runs good!!

I went with the B&G 1.5"F 1.4"R. Alignment was done and everything is within specs using all other stock suspension parts.

I went with Eibach Pro kit and nothing else needed or required. If gave me the look I wanted with the 1" drop front and rear and it handles nice! No ill affects from the drop. 4 wheel alignment is required anytime you lower or raise the suspension.
