Question Has anyone installed the Magnaflow mufflers only setup?

The Magnaflow Street Series 2.5" System, with 4" Polished Stainless Steel Tips.
Part No: 16584

This is the cheaper option of the two they offer, about half the price of the full setup.
I can’t find any video clip on this model anywhere, not even on their website.
What gives, is the sound that bad that they won't even post it on their site?

I would like the same info. I am ready to purchase, but would like to hear a clip.

Just go with the MRT axle back system. Either version 1.0 or version 2.0. $450 shipped when I bought it. Easy to install.

Plenty of video clips.

I have version 1.0 and it is personally a little too loud for me but would probably be perfect for most.

I put on the magnaflow 6" round (times 2) mufs and tips. I don't think their quite as loud as the mrt setup and the drone I think is alittle less. This is from hearing the mrt clip and comparing it to mine. I have no way to do a sound track tho. I'm happy with it.

Ron, I have the exact same setup.

I'm happy with it, might rip out the stock resonator sometime next year.

Ya I believe I got the part no's from your thread a couple months ago. Thanks, I'm happy with them. I also picked up their universal X pipe but have not had it put on yet.

buddylok,
Thanks for the video, I do remember seeing this before when you just put it up. Is this the exact kit that Magnaflow offers for the Camaro on their site or is this something that your local muffler shop put together using Magnaflow street mufflers?

Because from the pictures in the Magnaflow website the kit they offer has slanted tips that look more like the factory does. basely they offer two set ups they're both the same', except that one doesn't offer the x-pipe and its almost half the price.

I will likely go with your setup...gotta find a shop to do it. The video clips sound sweet.

It is between your setup and the MRT version 2.0 (waiting for final pricing.)

I'll have to listen to both your custom Magnaflow setup and the MRT V2.0 videos with headphones to arrive at a final decision, but so far yours sounds the best.

glad to hear you liked my setup.
personally, I think MRT V2.0 sound pretty sweet too.

I'm still thinking about getting rid of the stock resonators.

Don't get rid of them! I did a lot of playing around with this and when you take off the stock resonators things get really droney really fast.

It really comes down to your ultimate performance goals. Here are the basic differences between the 2 systems:

16584 - Axle-Back System replaces factory muffler with Magnaflow mufflers and a short section of stainless piping. The sound of this system 16584 compared to the 16583 (Cat-Back) is very similar. The 16584 is slightly milder in terms of sound as the factory resonator kills the sound and flow.

16583 - Cat-Back System replaces the factory exhaust tubing with 2.5" Mandrel-Bent (better more efficient flow) tubing, it replaces the restrictive OEM resonator with a resonated X-Pipe (provides scavaging and a smooth deep tone) and it includes the remaining tubing with the same mufflers used in 16584.

In terms of power in a stock application from one system to the next the 16583 makes about 6-7 additional RWHP over the 16584. There are other options such as replacing your factory resonator with a Magnaflow Resonated X-Pipe and then you can use various Magnaflow Mufflers to achieve the sound you're looking for.

Please feel free to call 888.308.6007 or email me anytime. We have awesome prices and we can help you make a decision based on our product knowledge. The 16584 might not be out of reach with our forum discounts!!

Kind regards,
