MAF Cleaning, Do You?
So I read somewhere that it is good to clean the MAF every other oil change. I have not cleaned mine since purchase of car. I have the MAF cleaner, now need the time to remove and clean.
Any pro / con on cleaning or not regularly? |

I just changed my oil and cleaned my MAF. I too read cleaning every other oil change is a good thing, helps keep the MAF working the way it should.

I have 64k on mine and just did it for the first time. Didn't notice a difference, but thought it would be good to do!

RTC any tips on doing it? I'm going to be cleaning my Vararam filter so I may as well do that while I have it off. What cleaner did you use, just the generic stuff?

CRC MAF Cleaner in a gray can. It can be found at Walmart automotive or any automotive store.

I keep a can in the trunk just in case. It says to spray like 10-15 time but I think that's to much. I only hit it like 6 times from about 1/2 ft. That's all its quick drying and just don't touch the hot wire. Oh and wear some gloves also and eye protect just in case.

There was a thread on this very recently.
I have roughly 12,500 miles on my car. Been running a VR intake for the last 4,000+ miles, and an AirRaid for a few thousand before that. I have never re-oiled the Vararam filter b/c it has few miles on it, and I only drive the car in nice weather as well. I pulled out the MAF last week and it looked like the picture below. I'm not sure how it got that dirty, but it did. I cleaned it off with CNC MAF cleaner, but honestly haven't noticed much of a difference.

I noticed some grime in my TB as well with the Vararam . . . I went 6k miles between cleaning the filter (every other oil change). I'm going to do it every 3k now and clean my MAF when I do it here in the next few weeks.

Dumb question, but is the hot wire in the picture above the orange looking wire we shouldn't spray? Would someone mind elaborating that part for me lol
