Car Broke Down Tonight...

Yupp, my camaro with only 2,000 miles broke down tonight. Wtf! Stopped at a redlight and started seeing smoke, i thought it was dust from outside. So I rolled up the windows and friggin smoke starts coming in through the vents then I noticed my hood was popped (idk if that is a safety feature or something, idk how it got open) and smoke was pouring out of the engine bay. I tried moving it out of the way, I had to floor it and it would red line just to get it to move (its an auto). I was able to get it off the side of the road while putting up a bypass into a corn field. Opened the hood fully and smoke started pouring out and I saw about a gallon of fluids coming out of the car, I had a line of it following me . I believe the transmission coolant line completely exploded then causing the radiator to pop. Im lucky someone did not hit me at the intersection. Its just hard for me to believe a new car with that low of miles, ive never even been over 75 mph and this would happen. Its my first car as well, literally scared the hell out of me. I thought it was on fire from all of the smoke surrounding me... it eventually got towed tonight to the dealer. I am going in the morning to figure this out.

Cool thing though a fellow camaro owner in 2nd gen z28 pulled over to see if I needed help, I appreciated that.

Sounds like a fluke, once in a million kind of freaky thing. I'm sure Chevy will make good on the repair. Sorry to hear you went through that. Nice to hear camaro owners looking out for each other too!

I did not see anything come up, and I am sure it was not oil. Whatever it was literally bursted because it is all over my engine bay, even on top of the covers.

Sounds like a transmission issue. Probably had a line come loose. Sorry to hear it. The low transmission fluid would cause the transmission to slip before it got too low to move. That explains the high revs just to make it off the road. I hope you are back on the road soon.

Fact that it red lined so fast is what made me wonder.

Reduced power mode can feel like that. But usually says it on the dash.

Smelled sweet a little like Dex Cool?

Im honestly not to sure what that is...

So when I talk to the dealer should I have them go through my transmission as well and check/repair?
Im kinda scared to drive the car again, been driving for a little over a year now and just had my car that I thought was on fire right at a busy intersection
