What will we call this Camaro? An F-body or a Zeta body?

or just "sexy"
I always had the question, are all camaro and firebirds called f-bodys or is it just the 4th gens? I've also remember hearing A-body or something. Also how is Zeta pronounced? Like "Zayta" or like "Zeeta".

All camaros and firebirds have been on an F body platform, dating back to the 60s. That is, until 2006. And I have taken to calling GM vehicles by their greek letter. Zetas, Lamdas, etc. I don't attach -body with their new ones

Camaro gens 1-4 were on F Bodies. The A Bodies were the Chevelle, Cutlass, etc. GM has done away with the [letter]-body naming system and now uses Greek numbers. The last of the old system are the W bodies (Impala, etc) and Y bodies (Corvette, XLR) So even Z-body is inaccurate. It is a Zeta platform vehicle, but given that there is no Firebird, it probably makes the most sense to call it a Camaro.

Just Camaro.
There are too many other cars riding on Zeta to call it a "Z" body, imo. It's not exclusive, like the F-body platform was... |

I'll call it, "AWESOME"!
I think the most used reference may be "5th Gen." |

They could still be "F" cars even while being on the Zeta architecture. GM uses two digits of the VIN to designate the specific model of the car.
For instance, a Zeta Pontiac G8 sedan is an ER model, and the GT is an EC. 6G2ER57718L132276 - G8 Sedan 6G2EC57Y88L988846 - G8 GT There's literally 23 variants on the Cadillac D car platform (CTS and STS). The actual architecture is Sigma though. 1G6DS57V180145637 - CTS DI V6 They could just as easily reformat the model field in the VIN to use Fx for various Camaro models.
