What is best exhuast for L99 ???

What about the drone on automatics? I heard that when the L99 drops cylinders while cruising it can affect the exhaust tone. What exhaust is best for an L99 with this in mind? I like the sound of the american thunder flowmasters...but wondering if it would change to a horrible sound once it drops cylinders while cruising on the freeway?

Best sounding exhaust is up to your ears to decide. We have a ton of video up in our exhaust section for a good starting point. When the AFM kicks in...no exhaust really sounds good in my opinion. Pretty sure if you click your car into manual it will turn off the AFM or you can have your car tuned and have the AFM turned off all together. If you're looking for a drone free set up in general then Corsa or Solo is usually the best bet but you'll still hear the AFM when it kicks in.

I have the American Thunder cat- back on my L99 and it sounds awesome. Yes you will get a crappy sound out of it when AFM kicks in. I also have a K&N aircharger intake which makes the car sound that much better. You won't be disappointed in Flowmaster for the sound quality and virtually no drone.

Unless you are willing to tune out AFM, or drive in manual mode, I would stay away from exhaust. That AFM really is annoying. The stock exhaust kills all noise, good and bad. Find somone with an L99 with any aftermarket exhaust and AFM turned on before you buy any exhaust. 3rd gear around 1800 RPM.

Corsa is what you need, no drone

How about a set of headers with stock mufflers? Cruising on the highway it will sound basically like stock when the AFM kicks in.

I have Borla ATAK catback and could not be happier. I wanted muscle, and this is where it is at. It will drone though if you don't have AFM tuned off, or the LS3 Conversion.

You can tune the motor and get rid of the AFM. Just had mine tuned by Jannette racing $300 dollars. If you put headers on the car you will get a engine light. I had the x pipe and gm performance exhaust. Did not like the sound when AFM kicked in. Now I have American Racing Headers, X pipe and still have gm performance off road mufflers. After the tune and no more AMF it kicks butt! Deep sound like a v8 chevy should sound.

Im in California land of many pollution laws....basically my understanding is you cant do headers and get smog approved to re-register every two years....so Im really only looking for an exhaust system. Does tuning out afm void the factory warranty? Does it significantly decrease your milage as well? Are there any out there that have an aftermarket exhaust and afm still turned on and dont have drone problems....thats what I really need to know.

I went with a complete ARH system. There is no 1800rpm drone but I did shut off AFM in the tune that was done.
